After being out of the gym for 10 days and eating burgers and pizza (and a few Krispy Kremes) I returned to the gym today not really knowing what to expect but figuring I felt pretty good and I wanted to see what I could or couldn't do.
I trained chest and back. Chest went well but I purposely chose exercises that I didn't have to move a lot of heavy dumbbells and things like that. No pain or anything after chest. Got into back and in addition to some supported row work I did a few sets of double dumbbell rows with no support and felt great. I even did long pulley rows and finished with 4 sets of SLDL with dumbbells. I didn't go ridiculously heavy but I didn't go light, either. I was relieved to see that I had no pain, at all. I wasn't even stiff later after getting home.
I will continue to be careful and training legs may not be as great but I think I dodged a bullet here. Initially, all indications were that I had a pretty bad situation with my back and it appears that it recovered quickly and I may be good to go.
