  • Last Week - Skiploading, Training, and Making Weight

    Hey Skip,

Been awhile since I posted. Work and life have been keeping me busy. My prep is winding down and I have a question regarding the last week. I've been following your protocol (and have the last several shows). The last week I plan on pushing my skip load back from Saturday to the Tuesday before the show. What are your thoughts on training? Does it make sense to do a light pumping upper body workout just before the load? Or perhaps the day after? Which is more effective for pushing the glycogen into the muscle? Making weight is going to be interesting so would an upper body workout the day after the load make sense?.....Thinking it will help move the water out? Thanks for the feed back!

    I just saw this.

I don't know your specific situation so I can't be sure. With having to make weight for a weight class, though, it gets tricky with the timing of the load because it depends on how much you gain and how quickly you baseline, if you baseline the last week, etc..

Training after a load is defeating the purpose of the load. It will not keep you full and ... moving water? It won't move water from under the skin if that is what you are referring to, no.
