  • 10 year layoff

This is me Oct.1st 2003 im the fat one on the right 10 years of doing nothing

weight 303 waist 44" and disgusted with myself

These were taken Labor day this year after 11 months of training at age 45

weight 238 waist 34" and dropping

Still a long way to go but I feeling on the right track, today im even more cut...here is a little backgroung

trained on and off for 25 years before I got serious in 1991 and competed in 2 shows..The Merrimack valley in Lowell Mass and the Bay State in Worcestor Mass..I placed 5th in tall class my first show. The following week was the Baystate and there were some terrific Bodybuilders that day,in the tall class alone there were 15 competitors, plus this show was an AAU nationial qualifier...

Prior to this I broke my femur and had a rod put through the bone for 13 months. They had to remove muscle from my right thigh in order to get the rod in..The Doctor's told me I would never squat heavy again and laughed at me when I told him I was going to compete...

Three years later im on stage...kiss my ass Doctor wackoff..I should mention those shows were not drug tested so I went up against juicers and held my own...

I got married a couple of times after that had a daughter so life was #1 and training was an after thought.I married for the third time 5 years ago to a wonderful women who is pregnant now and I also have a 20 year old from a previous marriage.
10 years go by now im 44 weigh 303 lbs waist 44 drank vodka every weekend and smoked a pack of newports a day..

I kept hearing shit from people remember when you were muscleman now your fatman what gives, and you know what I did not give a shit.I could not walk the Emeril square mall without taking a rest WTF im too young to be feeling like this.
One night I had a dream that I was ripped and saw striations in my chest,I woke up and for a moment felt great then realized it was only a dream but for a moment I got the feeling again..They next day I went out and bought a complete olympic set up and dumbells...I have been back training it will be 12 months August 1st and I have lost 70 lbs I weigh 238 waist 34 and dropping.I can honestly say I have not missed one workout during that time and am having so much dam fun this time around, although the injuries the groin pulls all the fun stuff is back only worse..I plan on competing in USBF Northeast Natural 45 and over class in Seekonk Mass. April 2005,the diet is their the progress is their, it's just a question of time..At 45 loosing bodyfat is alot slower then what it was when I was 30,but I have more mass now go figure...Im a stubborn son of a bitch and refuse the words cant, wont or impossible..

This was August 24th of this year I had surgery to remove a lesion on my vocal cord and the results came back early cancer..The Doctor feels he got it all and his suggestion is to come back once a month just to make sure it does not return..Worst case they would do radiation therapy on the vocal cord with minimal side effects...So if any of you smoke (I quit a year ago) and still got cancer,Give that shit up now and stay away from second hand smoke....Smoking and drinking makes you 10 times more likley to get it..This past year has been an eye opening experience and I am so focused now like never before..I just began Doggcrapps training and right now im in the mind stage of mastering the overall concept and not getting hung up on particulars..Ill post pics of before and after soon just want to say great to be here and like my training this forum looks like the next step of where I need to be to take it to the next level and I will..Thanks

Hey Heckman thanks.I probably should delete the intro thread it's the same here w/pics...

I have read alot of Doggcraps thread about waking up at 45 or 50 and realizing all the years wasted and dam did it ever hit home..I finally understand the term that youth is wasted on the young..If I could only go back with the wisdom I now have, but hey there is still plenty of time and I plan on making the most of it..Thanks again

It would have been easier to keep drinking beer and doing nothing for yourself. My hat is off to you, bro.
