  • 2004 R1 is on the way...

Just ordered this bike in silver and I should have it by the end of the month. It's got the sweet exhaust pipes comin out from under the seat and supposedly kicks out 180 hp at 12,500 rpms! God, I can't wait! Here's a pic from the yamaha site....

SW- I've heard that. But the exhaust looks so sweet under there, I'll live with it I guess. Might be a good thing in the winter if it keeps my ass warm! Bilter- Yup, the silver. I saw my first 04' R1 in person today and it was blue. Looked awesome. I like both of these colors...not really a fan of the red though. Winnie, MSRP is $10,599. Finance it over several years and that translates to like $150/month. Not a bad price to pay for the rush you get going 180mph! Hehehe

I have been planning on getting one of those bad boys for some time now. But the damn house is a money pit. I should have never gotten rid of my R6. Could have did a dealer trade, add a little cash and I would be rippin around on that mutha all summer long. DAMNIT!!!

Daytona (in superbike anyway) was 1st Mladin on Suzuki, 2nd Zemke on Honda and 3rd Duhamel on Honda. SOmeone forgot to tell the pros how good the R1 is! It is my bike of choise though.

Well boys, I'm happy to report the R1 came in Tuesday. When the shop called me, I told the guy to give me 5 minutes and I'd be over to pick it up. Dropped everything at work, ran out the door, and I was riding it an hour later. This bike is so smooth. Power and torque kick in hard around 4,000 rpms and stay strong all the way to red line at 13,750. The gear shifting and throttle are very smooth. This bike is HOT! I'm lovin life right now. Just got to remember to go to the gym!

Glad to hear your having fun with your new bike. Around here the weather won't give us a break so I can pull out my ZX-9r. I like the new R1 but I'm a Kawi man so my next bike will be the ZX-10.

Sport Rider raved about both bikes but in the end it's down to the guy twisting the throttle. Have fun and ride safe.

First things first: break the engine in!!! Check with the dealer. Usually it's like under 7,000rpms for the first couple hundred miles, then you can gradually give it more juice.
