how long to stay on a training protocol before moving on?

  • how long to stay on a training protocol before moving on?

    too ofetn up and coming "iron warriors" get overexcited about a specific training program. they write down everything, lay out workout schedule, diet, etc.
    yet most of these same guys give up on that soecific program after a while when they dont see immediate results. so now they are doing DC this month, MaxOT the next, and some other program out of Flex mag. they basically keep changing their workouts with NO results.
    so now my question is, how long should a reasonable guy give a workout routine before being able to say 100% "this is not for me, i am not getting any results, i need another program"?

    I would like to hear what program that person is doing and to find out if they are doing everything they should do first.

      Yea JP, and given that I'd give a program ATLEAST 8-12 straight, consistent weeks on it.

          3 months seems a reasonable time to take a training program for a test drive..then again, some trainees (not me if that is what u are thinking) believe in no "no program" training program, where they believe building up is based on constantly changing workout routines, weights, rep ranges, intensity techniques etc. :showoff:

            "The one way road to failure in bodybuilding is overanalyzing yourself to death and switching things up every 3 weeks before you even have a bit of a clue whats working"

            In this program we have a wealth of different exercises we can use, but we don't switch them unless we aren't gaining on them anymore.

                if your on a program and can only incline bench 225x12 then i would say give up it aint working..lol
