im starting my first cruise. i blasted for 8 weeks and im taking 1 cruise week. im looking for some input on my plan. im gonna workout on monday and thursday. using the same split but only training on those 2 day. i am only gonna do straight sets but was wondering if its a good idea if i do 2 sets for bis, shoulders, tris and possibly chest. how much cardio would be ideal

2 weeks for cruising is the recommended minimum.Remember that the whole idea of the cruise is to take a break from the heavy intense lifting to give your body a chance to recuperate so in answer to your questions I don't think it matters exactly what you're doing as long as you're scaling back on the intensity..no rest pause of course...try out some different exercises if you feel like it...scale back on the eating a little too...then when the time comes you'll be ready to go full force once againMassive G

For 8 weeks of blasting, you wouldn't be able to only take one week to cruise and be ready to go back at it again full force unless you have superhuman genetics. Like FH said, for 8 weeks blasting it's definitely atleast two weeks off, sometimes more for some people.
The sets are nowhere near as intense, you eat one less meal a day, your stretching is not as intense (though you still do it), and this is a time to just take a break from it all. That's why they call it a cruise...it's a vacation from heavy intense lifting, stretching and eating. You're not necessarily lifting light, but you most certainly are not going to failure either. Stop a few reps short.

Hell, my first cruise I took three weeks off, but I needed it. It's the difference in knowing your body and not. Two weeks should definitely be the minimum as recommended.

i am going to see how i feel after 1 week maybe im gonna need more. this 1 week is not set in stone its simply a basic outline. if i need more which is what most of you guys are predicting, then by all means i will take more. ive never taken a break from lifting at super high intensity so this is definitly a change. one point that im not sure about is how much cardio i should be doing in cruise. more than the amount when youre blasting or less. and at the same low intensity. thanks

I remember on my first blast on the 1st of june i believed that i was gonna be able to go through maybe 10 weeks and only have to take a 1 week cruise and then jump right back in. But after 7 intense weeks, i was ready for those 2 weeks. You may feel like you jus wanna jump straight back into ur workouts after 1 week but believe me some more time off can benefit you. Cause you'll come back with even higher intensity and get stronger.

Well goliath, we want you to do it right and gain properly. If you underestimate your needed recovery period, you might come back weaker and not benefit from it.
Just read up a little and you'll see what we're talking about.

i read everything i can get my hands on . im pretty sure i read in the sticky" blasting and cruising clarified" that one of the options was blast for 8 weeks and cruise for 7-10 days. thats were i got my cruise for 1 week idea. i try not to pull anything out of my ass when i dont know much about it.

Okay, I say, do what you think is necessary, but, try to make sure that your ready to come back to blasting when it's time. If you feel you need more time then definitely take it!
