    wandering if any of you guys use l-leucine by itself, and if so how do you take it.

    I have seen the posts by Dante about BCAA's...just so happens I got 100 grams of leucine as a 'freebie' from a supplement company.

    Going to take them of course just wanted some input on 'maximizing' the use of.
    I train Dogg Crapp. When not training DC ... sometimes I train arms 3x to 5x per week. Sometimes I train 'modified dogg crapp' which includes an 'arms only' day.

          I've been spiking all of my shakes with ~10 grams of Leucine and have also been taking 15-20 grams intra-workout. It's pretty cheap and the research/results on it are sounds, so why not?

                Really? That'd be great because the stuff tastes like shit and at 10 grams it's enough to ruin even double premium flavoring from TP. Thanks fellas, I'll cut down the doses.

                        I've always been under the impression you needed L-Isoleucine and L-Valine combined with L-Leucine for optimal benefits and that Leucine as a standalone supp wasn't optimal, or even good at all.

                        Is that information wrong?

                              I was reading Lyle McDonald's Protein Book and he discusses leucine in its application to strength training and from all of the studies and research he did, at least from what I gathered, it seemed the only time high doses of leucine would be beneficial or elicit some notable benefit is when overall protein consumption is low.

                              McDonald points out that typically 40g of whey protein contains about 4-5 grams of leucine and adding more would not likely increase the insulin or anabolic response, however if an individual wanted to reduce their protein intake post-workout then adding free leucine might be beneficial.
