  • Beat the logbook on all exercises except the first one...Is this normal?

Tonight was the first time I was trying to beat my baseline numbers on the logbook....got to the gym feeling good....warmed up on Incline BB and maybe I was psyching myself out...maybe it's just this exercise...but it was really hard to get in a groove...

As I started my workset the same weight I used last time feels way heavier....think I still got the same # of reps though as last time...

Should I switch to the incline on the smith and start over? Switch to straight sets for a bit?(though I've been eating well and I have always recovered fairly quickly)

I should say that I beat my numbers on all the other exercises which made this even more confusing...

Help appreciated.. Thanks a lot! This program is awesome and I am already getting positive comments!

It sounds like you may have just been having a bad day. Try the excersize again next time it comes up and see if you beat it.

You eating enough? No, this is not normal to really fail on the first time. How's your form?

I've been eating a lot and gaining some size...but I realize with this program the eating must be way more than with other programs

Form is good....but in the later reps especially with the incline BB I can find it hard to stay in the correct groove..I think another problem was trying to fail on the negative and have my spotter take the weight off...

Maybe I will just switch to the Smith Machine..I have always liked it and it's pretty easy to RP with it

hey man, were you feeling like crap or not very energetic when you did it? i did not beat an exercise to the extent i felt i should have recently, so i left the gym after that first set, came back the next day and doubled those reps. might not always be the best decision, but at that point in time for myself it was. so if you werent feeling 100% that could be it. lots of factors.. preworkout meal, protein intake, supplementation, energy level, stress and some more....

Yup...even on the warmup sets the weights felt heavier than usual...had 0 energy in the workset haha....very interesting as all the other exercises went well....

Probably more of a mental thing and having just switched to the program where the intensity has to be extremely high for every set....

            Thanks for the help guys

You 'think' you got the same reps as last time?.....Didn't you write it down?...Perhaps you misspoke there but it made it sound to me that you need to keep better records....

Are you doing your stretches? Resting enough? Eating enough? Things just don't add up here. You should have RAPPPPPPPPEEEDDDD the logbook on only your second rotation dude...something's just not right.

And oh yea, just as FH said, there is no 'thinking' that you got the same number of reps. Are you taking good notes? That's one of the most important things here, dude. And if you aren't taking good notes on the workouts, I seriously doubt you're taking the time to have a nutrition journal and track your eating too...

                  That's just IMO

Are you KIDDING?! You have to be juicing atLEAST all your life and be on year-round to have THAT kind of incline!

                            Sooo, to summarize...

                            1. Take better records

                            2. Make sure you're really eating enough

                            3. Make sure you're stretching well enough

                            4. Plug as much tren as a prized bull into your system if you EVER EVER want to be anything near 225 x 12 (chances are you still won't)

I like this whole summarizing thing....so therefore

                              1) read thread intently
                              2) think real hard for 0.001 seconds of ways that you can add something worthwhile to said thread
                              3) reject #2 and instead make some off the cuff smart ass comment for your own amusement
                              4) repeat as above
