Hey bros, my girlfriend just strained her back pretty badly while spotting me on incline presses. She was helping me to rack the bar after finishing my last negative when it happened. Needless to say, she couldn't complete her workout. She is having a very difficult time standing up straight and walking- she can take about 10 steps before she has to hold onto something and rest. Although I have had plenty of back injuries (multiple stress fractures etc.) and unable to walk for days at a time, I've never actually pulled or strained a back muscle. What is the best thing that she can do/I can do for her? Thanks a lot bros, I feel horrible...she's an extremely strong female but I shouldn't be asking her to help me lift that amount of weight, especially after I've reached failure and basically have nothing left. Thanks again, guys.

BG, Is it in the middle of her back like her spine or is it off to the sides of her spine, if does not get better in 5 or 6 days take her into a chiro and have a x-ray or MRI done. I fractured my 2nd lumbar when I was 17 and to this day I live with pain, that or have fusion done, do not take this injury lightly...

I'm with IH on this one. Do not take this lightly, do the usual as in ice and an pain killer/anti-inflammatory. She is going to be stiff and barely able to move till she gets moving. Have her take it easy and you should have someone look at it ASAP as it's better safe then sorryTrueprotein.com

Wow, that's is BAD! Reminds me of the time I was doing pulldowns on my new "home made lat machine". My girlfriend was standing by waiting to help when the rope snapped and the weights came down barely missing crushing her foot! Guess who lost a spotter there and then?No-one trains HARDER!!

Hmmmm...I'm thinkin' jewelry. Or maybe a new leather jacket. Or...a massage from a good looking guy with great hands and a thick accent. :p But that's just me. :smooch:
Seriously though, a doctor's visit is in her very near future like IH said.
And then maybe a trip to the car dealership."The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem." -
