  • Beef just got thrown out the window. Time for plan B

Here's the deal. We have this whole mad cow disease thing over here, and my dad being as scared as he is about these things kept telling me, no beef. But i continued to convince him that I needed it and I did.

But now something terrible has happened. He saw an article about 6000 people getting the disease from beef and he's put his foot down. I cant get anymore beef . I didnt go down without a fight, alot of shouting, throwing the paper on the floor and standing on it alot. In the end I still cant get beef.

So gotta step to plan B. Chicken. Now I like chicken its cool. Like 100g of protein in 12oz of chicken breast i believe (going by calorieking.com).

But we all know beef is the king of protein. So im kinda sad that i cant have it anymore.

Anythoughts on what i'm gonna have to change not being able to eat beef now. Chicken has like almost half the calories, and no fat either. So its definetly gonna require upping other things, i guess i go by how i feel.

But am i stuck with chicken? Or should i opt for anything else?

ostrich tastes similar to beef and is almost fat free. i'd opt for that personally if its available near you. but hey, theres still plenty more protein sources besides beef... you got chicken, pork, fish, other seafood, turkey, and various other animals that you might eat.

You ass. Ok maybe i should have been a bit more clear. Im muslim so i can only eat meat thats been halaal'ed. Meaning a pakistani butcher here in edinburgh.

Which limits me to not being able to eat pork, turkey, ostrich.

I can eat chicken, lamb, fish, dairy, eggs.

I'll probably most likely opt for the chicken and increase my carbs or fats once again depending on how i feel. If im not gettin stronger then im not eating enough.

hey mate, your a grown man,if my dad told me not to eat beef id have to tell him were to go lol,my training partner wont eat beef because he is paranoid about mad cow disease but by sticking to chicken he doesent know what hes missing.
here in the uk,with our sunday roast traditions,if mad cow disease was a serious threat we probably all have it anyway so tell your dad to lighten up mate.

Hell you could make gains eating Soybeans too, but red meat is the best amino profile there is for adding muscle mass..

Asim> one choice to get protein and fats in may be chicken and cashew nut stirfry or something along those lines. Very nice combo IMO. Almonds are great also if not better than cashews, big ass protein drink and a handful of almonds, or of course there's the protein drink with 3 tblspn olive oil... There's more than one way to skin a cat, halaaled or not
We're lucky here in Australia, more beef than you can poke a stick at. Funnily enough kangaroon meat is also excellent, very high protein, nearly no fat and tastes great, if you can bare to eat Skippy the Kangaroo! Much to Steve Irwins disgust, crocodile burgers are also a good feed, although his zoo don't sell 'em!
Hang in there mate, you will find a way and the mad cow disease problem will hopefully rectify itself in the near future.
                          Cheers
                          Matt

He's jus nuts about me catching mad cow disease. Its not a religion thing.

Theres nothing i can do to change it now. Jus got to eat whats available. If beef isnt on the menu then i just gotta work around it.
