im a big fan of doing incline bench with a super wide grip. the same way markus ruhl does them. but the problem is that my outer chest is already a strong point and my inner chest sucks like crap. so should i be doing them or will they only make my problem even worst. and also can you do them on a decline

thanks guys hopefully my chest is gonna be insally huge soon. but where does that saying that the closer youre grip the more you hit youre inner chest come from. i started doughting that theiry when i saw how marcus did his bench and saw his chest. oh ya and when the narrow grip did nothing.

It's just fuzzy bodybuilder logic. Usually though, if the physiology allows, the wider your grip is, the more 'in' you hit the muscle. For instance, a very wide grip row would hit the mid back more than a very close grip row.
With benching though, the closer your grip is, the more you hit triceps. This is assuming you don't go dangerously close. The chest muscle fibers run horizontally so there is no way that you can hit outer or inner chest. Going with a very wide grip just adds variety and allows for a better stretch.
But yea, it's just fuzzy bodybuilder logic. It has about as much merit as Bobo the clown, going with higher reps for more 'toning', thinking flyes hit 'inner' chest, and thinking that any more than 1g per pound of bodyweight in protein is going to a waste...

If your form sucks anything is possible, after you have been training for a while you will find your niche and then go with it til it gets broken...
