  • Propecia, dutasteride

    Hey guys/gals

I was wondering if anyone has used Propecia or dutasteride to prevent/stop hair loss. If you have, I was wondering if the sexual dysfunction claims were legit.

    thanks in advance.

I've been using it for several years now. I have not experienced any noticeable sides from it, but the claims are legit. It's just a matter of probability whether or not you will have side effects. But there's really no harm in trying. You can also look into minoxidil, as well.

You can save time, money, and sexual dysfunctional concern by saying "screw it" and just shaving your head. This probably isn't helpful, but just my 2 cents from a bald 24 year old.
The average silverback gorilla in the wild is between 5'7 and 5'11, and weighs between 298 and 397 pounds (according to wikipedia). Why not shoot for that?

Thanks Sammich. Which have you been using? Propecia or dutasteride? I have heard many people talk about splitting the pills. What dose do you take?

            Anyone else use either? Thoughts?

As stated above, the claims are legit. I saw 2 doctors and a dermatologist and they all said the same thing. The probability is around 2%. I opted not to go the finasteride route as recently they've found the sexual dysfunction side effects to be irreversible.

I'm 29 and started noticing hair loss when I was about 25 and at a faster pace when I turned 26. I looked up alternative solutions and saw on this site and on the internet about using Nizoral shampoo. Dante has commented on a few threads about it if you want to search it. While my hair loss hasn't completely stopped, I do feel it has slowed it down as 2% ketoconazole has anti-androgenic properties.

I have been using minoxidil(dropper) and Ketoconazole(shampoo) on and off for the last two years. Seems to regrow a little hair if you use it real regular. While doing DHT derivates I have also added in some S5 topical cream. I still have hair, so it must have been working a little bit

the minoxidil seems to work the best for me, what percent are you using. You probably have more options in Norway than in the US.

If youre BBing using the DHT surpresors won't give you the hard look we are working so hard to achieve.

That sounds dangerously like some conspiracy theory-level stuff. Where is the clinical data? Where are the studies? What symposium was that at; was it a reputable one, or one for quacks?

Danke! I will dig into these, as I'm very interested, having been on Propecia for a number of years now for my dumbass hairline.

                              Scott,

Do you know if other DHT reducing/blocking compounds would cause the same side effects as Finasteride? Products like saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil etc.?
