  • To young for DogCrap?

    Hi there!

    First som facts about myself:
I am 18 years old and I have trained for about one year. I am serious in my training, and I have a good and structured diet. The last couple of months I have trained a basic 4-split, with 8-12 sets on big muscle-groups and 4-6 sets on the smaller ones. After reading the DogCrap article, I have now understood that this is a "wrong" way of training. So I really want to try out DogCrap-training but then my question goes: Am I to young, and do I have enough experience? How many years should I train before I starts with DC?

I've noticed there is mostly "big" guys here at the forum with a lot of training experience, and not so many beginners, as I would like to call myself

    Greets from Zevz!

    (...and sorry about bad english)

Hmm... I kind of expected that answer
How would you recommend me to train? Should I continue with 4-split and many sets, or should I train lesser more intensive sets?

You have not been training wrong. The thing is there is no right way of training sometimes. I depends on what works for you bro. If the 4 split and 8-12 sets it what working for you, good.

The reason people need experience for this program is because it demand a lot of intensity which can take a great deal of time to understand, and to also find that mind to muscle connection.

If you want to do this program, I don't think some of us big guys on this forum are really gonna stop you,. They are just gonna help steer you in the right direction.

Its not the age thats the factor is the amount of experience and the ability to listen to your body and know when to say cruise because you overtrained , or when to cut back or increase your intensity at certain points.

Well that just my .02 cents.

You have to remember right now you have the highest output of natural test in your system, you will gain on almost any routine that you stick with and train and eat hard, please give each program a good 6-8 months worth to see what works best for your recouperation abilities...

Thanx for really fast and good answers!
The next couple of months I will just have the ability to train mon/wed/fri...
So I was wondering if anyone here could suggest a good training routine? Maybe a 3-split or a 2-split? I dont want to train a full-body program, cause that's just boring! So if anyone could suggest a split-routine with sets, reps and exercises I would REALLY appreciate it!

I'm going to delay dogcrap-training a couple of years until I feel I'm ready, but I will hang around here on the forum!

Bro if I was you I would stick with a basic low volume program with squats, deads, and bench being the center peices of your workout with some other basic movements thrown in. Just stick with straight sets as well for now. Hang out around here bro we are all more than happy to help you out and get you on the path to being huge.

Very wise decision, I like that kind of thinking, if you like you can shoot me a PM and I will help you out with a 3 day split that would suit you.

I want to thank you for understanding where we are coming from...

Sorry I was so short I did not mean to offend.
This is an advanced program and it's like taking a track athlete and putting him in a marathon.
The program was invented by Dante originally for people who had exhausted all their conventional means of gaining and were stuck.
This does not mean that traditional programs don't work. They do and some very well.
People are too impatient and everyone wants to choose the fastest method to get there and itleads to problems tendon and joint problems if you get too big too fast with or with out AAS.
I gained very well on 10 years of a 3 on 1 off program but my work outs evolved to become shorter and shorter and more intense. DC came around the right time for me as I was stuck and the program has helped me tremendously stay strong and large.
It is my feeling that young guys don't have the mind muscle connection and understand their bodies (as Creator Mentioned above) nor do they have the development of the muscles capillary blood vessel systems as well as the tendons etc. Some of this built with multiple sets and reps and different programs. I built appreciable mass through multiple sets of Benches, Squats and deads. Dante encourages others to exhaust all the methods out there and when they are stuck..really stuck give this program a try.

I have helped a lot of guys on MM and other boards and the majority of them were young and they pulled out but never told me but I knew.

This really is for your benefit as you may find you burnt out quicker than a sylvania light bulb early on in this program and stop lifting when you could enjoy years of productive training and then do DC.
The diet will matter most and personally feel Heavy heavy weights and rest pauses with statics and stretches are waay toomuch for a beginner.

IF only advanced lifters did this program there wouldn't be a whole lot of ?'s to answers as they would already understand
