Seated Row machine? Many types yes and I use them occasionally for back thickness in the exercise rotation. To me they are good for strict controlled heavy reps.
Normally I will use them for my lat stretches at the end of the workout when they are not in my rotation.......load up the stack and put the seat back as far as possible and pull the stack back resist and stretch in an extreme negative position for 30seconds....the entire machine will be shaking on this hold.....but that is another story.

I actually use them from Hammer but I do not place my chest on them, I lean back away from the pad for more concentrated of a movement...

if you mean the supported t-bar row, no, the pad seems to press on my diaphram when lying on it making it difficult to breath.

Go for the old style T-Bar Row with a bar in the corner or against the wall, place a DB on the end near the wall, and grab a V close grip handle from the pulldown station and use 25 lb plates for more range of motion, I even go as far as standing on one of those aerobic steps so I can reach down to the floor even more...

I was planning on doing that, but at the last minute I decided not to and switched it for the other tbar rows because I was already getting crap from one of the guys that works at the gym cuz I left the plates on a machine when I went to go get some water, so I didnt feel like hearing it again. I am def going to do them next time though.
