  • Questions about extreme stretching

Hey guys, I have a couple questions about extreme stretching.
First, when you're doing the wide grip lat stretches (with straps) are you supposed to relax as much as possible so your lats stretch the most, or do you try to keep them as stretched as possible while still flexing them?

Also with the chest stretches, you use about half of your 8 rep pressing weight and go into a deep fly from what i understand. I can't go very deep and hold it for a full minute like DC says to, should I go less deep then or Lighten the weight? How deep are you supposed to go?

Thanks a lot, I tried looking for threads that already covered this but didn't have much luck

I'd lighten that weight and go for the deepest stretch there, brudda mango.

What about the lat stretch? Do you focus on just stretching it as far as it'll go or keep your shoulders pulled down with straight arms, so you're contracting your lats in the stretch?

IMO I would do what you deem to be working, and what make the stretch more painful for you.

Its all I can do to just hang there for 3 minutes let alone contracting your lats...

Does anybody have any diagrams of the stretches? I am having difficulty performing the bicep, shoulder, and quad stretches. Maybe if someone had s video of him performing the stetch that would be nice.

I believe jimpaul had a couple diagrams. The stretches are very hard to teach over the net. Yea...it sucks.

I got all the stretches done properly from reading and studying Dante's instructions. Just like working out, spend the time to learn to do them right. It is all logical..........good to exercise the brain too

I have difficulties stretching the lower back properly. How do you guys perform the lower back stretch?

my mom has one of those machines where you strap your feet in and hang upside down, that thing is amazing. it stretches everything out very well lol. and for back stretches ill just put on a chain belt, and throw a 100 lbs on the belt and hang from a widegrip pullup bar.. that works wonders too who needs a chiropractor

Don't you do a specific stretch for the lower-back?

No, the backwidth/backthickness stretch is just one stretch. It's exactly as woot stated.

But remember to use some common sense, in all likelihood you wouldn't be using 100lbs, LOL.
