    I gotta work out without hack squat machine for 3 months, is the front squat good alternative and what about the reps? (i do legpress 1x10 + 1x20, and squats 1x4 + 1x20)
    Holdin the barbell on chest would be pain for 20-repper...

    You can go with a set of 8-12 then a heavier set of 4-8 if you like, 20 is rather a painful thing...

      could do a 20 repper on the leg press afterwards as well.

        I cannot get comfortable w/ front squats. Yeah, why not do leg presses?

            I love how front squats take the pressure off my back compared to traditional squats but whenever I go heavier than 225 the next day my collar bone is sorer than my legs.
            I just purchased a STINGRAY from Advanced fitness. I think its adfit.com. Im at work right now. I work int eh gym I can't wait to try it out. I have it in my bag. I will give it a try tonight and let you guys know what I think. FOr $35 its not too bad, as long as it does what it says. Looks good so far.

            I'll let you know. My girlfriend makes fun of me because I have been gung-ho about front squats ever since I watched Ronnie's first video with him doing 7 plates aside.

            and here I am beating myself up with 2 a side.

              i would love to know how the stingray works out for you. iv'e wanted to get one but wasnt sure if id like it. i love front squats but they kill my shoulders when i start getting heavy

                i love front squats but i do them on the smith machine and my shoulders or collar bone dont hurt only the legs. i recently did them with a 5 lbs plate under the front of my foot and found it worked really well

                    There great but really uncomfortable, when i do em it kinda cuts of the air supply to cause of the bar being embedded in my damn throat. Your shoulder area will be sore afterwards

                        I think you'll like the front squats though...look at Olympic lifters quads! INSANE! Next week I will start training again and that is one lift I plan to stay with. Don't forget guys some of us have very limited gyms so even if you cant go heavy with FS burn em like a freak. I don't think anyone would complain. Work with what you have. I think we worry about the latest cybex blah blah and defeat ourselves. I know I do that from time to time.

                            Front squats are the only type of squatting i perform and i've gotten very good results from them. I make sure i descend all the way down until my hamstrings touch my calves and then explode back up. I'll either do them on the smith machine or with the free barbell. In both cases, i use a squat harness that i bought from www.getstrength.com. I had previously used the stingray, but didnt find it very effective with heavier poundages.
