first off, i'm not trying to "overanalyze" or anything like that. but i've read/heard the last few days about it not being the right time for some people to start dc training. like they haven't reached a certain level of developement before starting this way of training. i am certainly nothing near a lot of the guys here as i'm only 21 and been training seriously for 2-3 years. i know i've got to listen to what my body is telling me, but would some of you older guys suggest getting to the next level another way before starting dc? right now i'm just over 200 at 5'11 with probably 10-12%bf conservatively.

flex--i think the way i remember it is that if you are a seasoned trainer, maybe tried a bunch of styles and know what works and dont for you-- your gains have slowed due to too much "conventional lifting"-- you are looking to ad mass quickly--have a specific goal to obtain etc... then maybe this is for you---but if you are still making good gains on your current program and are just wanting to jump on the band wagon and switch up , maybe you should re think your plan and exaust the knowledge and techniques you use now first---then when yiou need the kick in the ass to start growth and strength gains again rapidly, come aboard.. dont quote me---is all from memory and i have only been here a short timeim not hardcore, im not cool, pretending any different would be acting the fool--- ill leave that to those who are good at it

I agree with BS, this is a very difficult program to follow unless you are training under DC himself, in all honesty if I had 5 years under my belt I still think I would pass on this program, it took me 10 years just to feel my body inside and how it works when training.
Question for you, can you flex majority of your muscle groups and feel each part of those muscles flexing?, when you are training on a certain exercise do you feel that muscle or muscles working as you go through those motions?.
These are things that a person who is in tune with their muscle mass and know their body very well...

I agree with both these guys. This sort of training takes more knowledge of your body than 2-3 years of experience can give you. It's highly recommended that you come back to this program if you've basically stalled on alot of other things, are experienced enough to basically know your body's limitations and physiology and have quite a bit of experience *5 years +*.

really think about dc training. if all the training principals and science that accomanies it makes perfect sense to you , go ahead and try it. so allen, it seems that you think its very important to have gotten stuck on many other training programs before starting dc -- whats your thinking here? just gaining lifting experience and learning how your body responds to things or do you think its important to gain a certain amount of mass first?www.trueprotein.com

MsteveM, DC has said many times, try all other programs first, then when you are stuck and you can gain no more, then you should try his program, and if you read into this very well, that means you will have many years of training under your belt...

IH, slightly offtopic but can I ask you what kind of routine you used before DC training ? I know you most likely would have used many styles, but which do you feel worked the best for you ?Mod @ www.bodybuilding.com

thanks guys for the replies.
IH, in response to your first post. i really feel like i have a good mind muscle connection, my upper back is really the only place i can't totally isolate every muscle just by flexing (by doing say a back double bi), but i still feel it all over. i understand what you're saying though.
i also completely understand why dante sets his program up like this. at first i was really liking it, but i know not being trained by dante himself i wasn't making the kind of gains i should be. i've been thinking about sticking with more of a powerlifting routine to put on size.
i just have 1 question though, specifically for USM and IH...i've realized from overtraining in the past that less is more when it comes to training. by doing a split like dc's program i really felt like i was recovering well, maybe even too fast on some bodyparts. how would you suggest splitting up a routine that consists of bench, deads, squats, bbrows, military press? what do you think of this split:
mon:
chest-2 work sets
deads-2 work sets
bb rows-2 work sets
wed:
squats-2 work sets
m. press-2 work sets
(maybe some direct arm work???)
fri: repeat mon ect.....
i apologize for the long post.

FM, I personally do not like your set up, but that is just me, I think two sets of chest/deads/bent rows would tax you way to much, I know you could use many different routines than this one.
I have to say for me and making gains I would have to say prior to DC that I always made gains on any program up to the last year of lifting, but I would say low volume heavy weight always did it for me, but the most important thing was that I was usually able to add weight all the time cause my last couple of years I would never do the same exercise layout two weeks in a row, I still did mostly the same exercises but not in the same order and I would train what ever bodypart I felt needed it for that day, I was not held to any exact workout on any training day, but my recouperation is above the norm...

It wasn't until I got into a low volume high weight routine that I made the most serious gains...I've always emphasized the contraction at the top of excercises and the negatives....as well as some static holds when I was at failure. So I feel like I was already on the right track to DC's style.
Something new to me from DC was some higher rep sets...and different excercises that I wouldn't have thought of before his articles...and last but not least the extreme stretching.Bigger, Faster, Stronger

Alright I am going to depart from the fray here and I know I am going to take some shit for it from the other guys but I personally think you would do just fine with 2 years under your belt as long as you know what the fuck you are doing. I know some guys that have been lifting for 10 years that are complete retards and would never reccomend this program to and I also know some guys that are fairly new that I think would do just fine. I believe it has to do more with the muscle between your ears than anything else. If you cant feel that one then just give it up for bowling or something else. If you know what I am talking about then maybe it would be worth a shot for you.I do not condone the use of anabolic steroids or any illegal drug, any information discussed is for educational purposes only.

BigP, Now thats a bunch of shit, just kidding, you are 100% accurate, its not for everyone but some are just more mature than others when it comes to learning and listening to their body, and I think that is most of this program...
