  • Should I let UncleJesse workout with me?

    I haven't had a training partner in many years...The last person that I worked out with was my ex gf and it was pretty impossible for her to spot me for the most part.
    Every time I've tried to train with anyone it usually starts out great but before long they want to vary from the plan that I have laid out and want to go do cable crossovers or some other gayass exercise because they don't 'feel' like they did enough work for chest and honestly I just don't want to deal with that type of shit anymore.....
    So anyway, Jesse is a guy I've known from the gym for some time now but we've only recently started talking about training. I get the impression that he "get's it" and after reading up on DC training has become a believer....
    I have a lot of confidence that anyone whose training I supervise will always get results and for me I like the idea of having a spotter who can push me to take it to the next level too.....
    But what do you guys think?.....LOL

    I highly recommend getting a partner of similar strength, this may be kinda hard for you. Just make sure the dude knows exactly what you want when he's spotting you because too many dumbasses are used to helping out some numbnuts on the 5th rep of a 10 rep set with a weight that is way too heavy for them because that is what most people expect them to do. Well hey, if he's similar strength, 'gets it', knows how to spot and doesn't try to become a hero on your stretches then all is groovy I say...

      I still think that the best spotter I ever had was that big pair of fake titties on the top of my head when I was doing DB bench press many years ago.....Damn I miss those big fake titties.....

              I love having a partner but I do have to admit I am a knucklehead and it is my way or the highway when it comes to training. I am lucky though because my partner is actually the one that turned me onto DC so it works out nice for us.
              I do not condone the use of anabolic steroids or any illegal drug, any information discussed is for educational purposes only.

                  Here's a thought BigP...What do you do when one of you 'loses' an exercise and the other doesn't?

                        even if he doest have the same exercice as you but you go to the gym at the same time atleast when he spots you wont have to explain to him youre hole fuckin training method or answer a regular spotters question of why youre doing only 1 set or so many rest pauses. it makes for less talking more lifting. theres no harm in trying

                          Ok, here is my take on the whole thing....
                          You outweigh me by 100 pounds, I see this as very benificial to me because I can use your wealth of knowledge to further my gains both physicaly and mentaly. I will have the opportunity to pick your big brain as needed. Your end of this gains a spotter who will help you move more weight as you need to further your size and goals as need be, which have not been shared at this point in the game.

                          I am going to go with the outlined DC training whether you are with me or not. The reason for this is that I have heard (read) about so many guys that have gotten great gains from this style and it simply makes sense to do it. I understand the basics of it and how I need to apply it to my game, so to speak. I have changed up my diet and am mentaly prepared to start up this week.

                              My dilemma is this....At this stage of the game I'm not so sure that Jesse wouldn't benefit more from doing a standard MWF type of split with every bodypart getting hit twice every 8 days.As I detailed in another thread I have altered my split slightly and I'm going into unchartered territory here.....it could work but then again you never know....We see each other pretty much every day at my favorite Starbucks so I think we'll probably play it by ear getting Jesse up to speed on the ins and outs of DC style training first and then take it from there....
