  • Ground beef ideas?

How does everyone eat their ground beef?, It sells for $3.99 a KG over here so im gonna use it for 90% of my meals as Im pretty broke and I find its the easiest food to choke down.

Do you count the fat once you rinse it off and maybe im overanalysing a bit but do you just pour water over it or do you get down and dirty and rub the hell out of it till you get every last bit of fat out of that sucka. I personally do the former.

Ive tried the canned soup method but so far all the soups ive tried have been yughk, any recommendations?

    Cheers guys

if you want to rinse it off put the meat in a colander and keep pouring water over the meat until the fat is rinsed off.

after you have rinsed your meat off add some salsa and reheat. you can add peppers, beans, corn, or whatever you like too.

a nice pro/fat meal is to rinse off the meat, crumble it up into a pan, crack a couple eggs into it, and top with some low fat cheese if you like. heat this sucker up and eat it with some salsa/hot sauce as a condiment.

a good pro/carb meal you can make beforehand and eat at work or whatever is this:

cook your ground beef and rinse the fat off. mix some salsa, hot sauce, peppers, beans, corn, or whatever you like in there. put some of the mixture on a whole wheat tortilla and top with some low fat cheese. wrap up a couple of those and take them with you. heat them up in a microwave for a minute or so and you have one tasty protein rich treat

I just rinse and mix in manwhich or ragu spaghetti sauce but that taco thing sounds like a damn good idea....

Damnit I'm off to the store to try it out tomorrow...I'm gonna add some lettuce and tomato.

Ortega makes some good powder mixes....no carbs, but high in sodium...

I used to just mix cheese in with it when I was bulking or doing CKD diets..

Another good alternative is plain tomato sauce.

Won't that soak the tortilla and turn it into a sloppy mess if you make it ahead of time?

if you add a whole shitload of sloppy salsa and dont mix it in with the ground beef, yes. if you just add enough salsa to moisten/flavor your meat and mix it in it will be fine. if you are using really liquidy salsa (yuck) it would be a good idea to cook it with the meat for a bit until some of the fluid evaporates.

i make this all the time and just as long as you don't go crazy with the salsa it turns out just fine.

This what I usually do. It tastes pretty good, but after about 10 lbs of it, I'm ready for a change.

I cook it rinse it then put an egg and some seasoning for meatloaf. I skipped the bread and milk. I then baked it for just a bit. Put it in the fridge so it was cold and stuck together. Then just cut it out chunk by chunk for low fat meat loaf. I also do a lot of tacos.

                              Pro/carb version...

Take yourself 8, 12, hell 16oz of ground beef LOL and start to slightly brown it in a frying pan with some Pam. You can either julienne your potatoes or use hashbrowns, and once your ground beef is just slightly browned add in however much potatoes you want. Continue cooking this mixture, adding to it whatever spices you'd like. I typically use just some garlic salt. Flatten it in the pan and let it sit a minute or so. Now, scrape it off the pan and flip it, the potatoes should be browned on the other side. Add in some fat free cheese and just let it sit on top while you cook the other side of the mixture for another minute or so until the potatoes are browned on that side. Ok, and you're done.

                              Pro/fat version...

This is really damn simple. Scramble eggs and brown however much ground beef you want in a frying pan with pam. Add whatever spices you'd like. Add some cheese. You're done, LOL
