  • First "cruise" coming up...

Its about time too... been "blasting" for 11 weeks... I went a bit longer than planned because I was still gaining nicely on most things... As far as weight gain - I went up for 214-215 in the mornings to 219-220 in the mornings which is not bad... I didn't really start eating like a freak until the last 3-4 weeks though. I have noticed the most changes in my shoulder/trap region - I am 100% sure I was massively overtraining my shoulders in the past, so it is nice to see them coming around.
To be honest I am looking forward to the break - but I am nervous that I will lose my gains!
I just wanna make sure I'm clear... my plan is to do 2 weeks of just straight sets of the same exercises I've been doing with lighter weight, no RP... still going to failure, or stopping just short of failure? My training partner just got back from a few weeks off because of surgery and then a vacation - so he will still be "blasting" while I am off... so I am probably just going to follow along and piss him off by using his weights for my "light" workouts

Cruises are for easy training to give your joints and overall body a break, you go straight sets on everything of 15 reps with a weight that is about 90% of max. You also drop one meal per day to give your stomach a break as well.

Yes you will drop some water and fat in the first 7-10 period and you will be surprised everyday how you look.

DC's program is as Iabad put it, "2 steps forward and 1 step back", this way you are always still progressing.

If need be you can take 2-3 weeks cruise, if you need to miss one day of a workout thats fine, this is time to heal up and get ready to blast again. In the last week you will be chomping at the bit to get back to eating and blasting again.

You can also try new exercises that you may want to incorporate into your next blast if you are topping out or stagnating on a certain exercise...

anything you may lose strength wise you will regain in a week. I have found that after my cruise within a week I am able to pick right back up where I left. Another peice of advice take it easy on the cruise, don't make the mistake of being scared and still trying to rest pause and push the weights. I usually go about 75 to 80% of the weights I left off with and do straight sets of 10 reps or so. This works nicely.

                  Thanks for the info guys!

I'm sure I'll go nuts trying to 'take it easy'... but I'm pretty sure I need the break about now.

One more question... Continue with the extreme stretching during the cruise, or hold off on that?

Yes but drop your weight quite a bit on weighted stretches...

Question for those of you who are potentially fat bastards like me and have to do cardio all of the time:

Do you do any cardio when cruising? Or do you get a "rest" from that too? Or perhaps some of you even do more cardio to prevent fat-buildups?

I keep it the same as on the blast for my fat ass, with the one less meal I really drop some fat on the cruise...
