Personally, I've got no ? about why it's done this way. With chest, shoulders, triceps, and back exercises all together. However, my PT director at work thinks i'm totally full of shit on this and that you can't do back with shoulders, chest, and triceps. I'd really like an argument for him other than do it that way and try it or why can you do 9 super sets on shoulders alone and say that you're burning muscle with these sets. He also doesn't think you can get a good workout from one workset, but hopefully i can get him to give it a shot.

Kent, Welcome to the board, and I think we will let DC chime in and answer this one, he has hashed out this program for years and came up with this order, and it does work, so we will let him answer this one...

hahaha... thats the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard. ask him why you cant do it that way. i guess a full body workout is heresy then. and these aren't normal worksets. its not just, ok i dont think i can do anymore and your done. its i definately cant do anymore..15 breaths..i cant do anymore, i'm trying but it just wont go..15 breaths..i couldnt do another rep if i had a gun to my head..15 breaths..static..exhaustion. my last workout i was already getting a little lightheaded during db bicep curls which was my first exercise.www.trueprotein.com

darn.. i dont think i'll ever be the first one to respond to a post!
btw, dc has said that you can switch up the split, but be mindful of the exercise order if you make extra days. for example if you put back on its own day, you wouldnt do something like deadlift the day before you squat. what you posted is like the "default dc split" if you want to put it that way. i'll leave it at that and maybe dante can add to it.www.trueprotein.com

Thanks IH. Been lurking with the occasional post for awhile and really love the knowledge i'm getting here. I just started up recently here so he's got the whole you couldn't possibly know anything mentality because he's gotten a college degree in it and i'm just finishing up my certification. I'm gonna try to talk to him about it tommorrow, he didn't really wanna hear it tonight though. I just wanted some concrete stuff for him. The training methods obviously work though. I've been killing it for about 7 months now after just casual gym usage and i'm lifting stronger than he is with several years of training now.

Yeah seriously. What gets me is it's a guy that's way smaller than even i am telling me this. He weighs like 180 at like 5'9 maybe even 5'10. He's been training for years too. And he's trying to tell even someone like me that's like 195 at 5'8" and just training hard 7 months much less someone like DC or IH(who are my idols) that you can't get good back development hitting it with other muscle groups. He's even got like a 225 bench and he's failing 1 inch off his chest if that helps tell you the size of his back.

I think its human nature that we are skeptical of stuff that ain't in the rags and not in the gyms, hell I was myself for a week til I finished reading everything DC said and when I saw and heard his trainees results, hell I was sold, and after being in this game for a few years it makes so much sense I was just speechless.
Like DC has said in the past we will never question the "old boys" like arnold the way he did things, how do we know it was right, cause they said so, who said so, sometimes we need to question age old things don't we...

i introduced my lifting partner to this program and we both love it thus far. you need to stress to him that whatever is burned into his brain has to be opened up. IH is right, it doesnt feel right at first, but it does when you wake up in the morning...it feels SO right. I will never go back to traditional training, ever

Hell, why even try to convince him. Words will never convince him. Your gains haven't convinced him. Let him trudge along spending hours supersetting every body part and trying every "Flex" workout there is and stay the same as he's been for seven years. Then, maybe, someday he may look at you and realize the truth.

hey, dont make fun of the PT! college is teaching us more than you can imagine about sedentary people! you know, college really shouldn't be a place that you have to shift through the bs to get good information...but sometimes it is.www.trueprotein.com
