  • Possible nerve damage

I believe I damaged a nerve in my chest from a bad injection. It seems I can't contract my right pec as much as my left pec. I see definition on my inner left pec, but it feels soft on my right.

After the injection my right pec burned, pain shot from my chest all the way down my arms. Quite uncomfortable for about 3-4 hours. The pain went away but afterwords I started to notice the contraction issue.

I want to know if I'll ever get the full contraction back in this muscle or is it permenantly damaged?

Nerves heal very slowly... if you punched a hole through the nerve it is going to die off a bit first, then very slowly rebuild itself... if that is what happened I would say there is a reasonable chance it will heal but it will take a pretty long time depending on how bad it is damaged.

Nerves...tricky shit. There are a couple of things going on here. yes you may have damaged the nerve and it will take a while to heal unless you severed it.(I don't that very much)

The other issue is, the slowing down your nerve conduction not allowing you to get a strong enough contraction due of the inflammation from your injection. As the inflammation subsides you should be fine. Keep us posted.

I forgot to mention that this happened 4-5 months ago...

Isn't IGF1 supposed to help with nerve repair?

5 months ago? Yeah... I'm with rowtogrow - get that shit checked out... if you somehow managed to sever the nerve and the ends didn't grow back together you are pretty much out of luck though.

That definitely sucks a big one...lol

It doesn't really look bad or anything...I just can't contract it fully...it will contract to a certain point then it just feels like I can't "flex" it anymore. Who knows....maybe I'm just being paranoid and it's always been like this, but If I remember correctly I remember looking at the definition on both of my inner pecs after doing a nice set of fly's.

If it is indeed a nerve problem hopefully it doesn't affect training or look bad when I cut down. So far it hasn't beeen a problem.

What would I say when I go to the doctor? (assuming I don't want the doctor to know how it happened)

Hmmm, you can always go with the B12 injections.

or tell him the truth. it's not like he's your dad and going to beat your ass. you're a grown man and the doctor has to respect your opinion of what you will do to your body. he/she probably drinks or smokes anyway

Employers and the insurance companies have access to medical records I believe.

They may, but now HIPPA is making your records confidential. NO ONE is supposed to have access to your records without your permission except doctor and staff.

rowtogrow is 100% correct. We can't even acknowledge that a patient is in our clinic without their express permission. I understand emergency rooms are having issues with that though, because some hospitals interpret the law so strictly that they cannot call your family to inform them that you have been in an accident without your permission - which is pretty hard to get from you if you have died in the accident, or are unconcious.
