  • Argument for doing stretches

    Hey guys! I sometimes visit a Norwegian discussion-board for bodybuilding and fitness. I have mentioned extreme stretching a few times, but most of them seem to think this is not a very good idea. They have "read somewhere" that it is / or might be dangerous stretching directly after sets, but they can`t explain why!

    I am not sure what I should say to them. Could someone please help me out with an argument against such a statement? Just to "shut them up" !

    It won`t help just saying I know stretching would do you good. I need some kind of a logical explanation....

    The muscle is already nice and warm from the working sets, so this is the most beneficial time to stretch, not only does it stretch the Fascia, but aids in recouperation and helps to bring shape to the muscle.

    I have had some minor nagging injuries for years and now that I do these Extreme Stretches after each workset, they are gone, just incredible...

      Tell them to look up 'deep fascia stretching'. Of course they don't know why they're saying what they are saying, this is the internet! lol but seriously, I get some shit about what I do too. Everyone keeps saying I'm gonna hurt myself. That is exactly what this stretching is going to help me NOT do in a way...

        if they cant give a reason why its dangerous, then they have no argument. so do they also think its dangerous to stretch after running? the advantage to stretching after a set is that the muscle group is pumped and warm, allowing for a greater stretch. its far more productive and safer to stretch afterwards than beforehand. i mean, i dont think i know of any super-stretchy people that wouldnt advise a warm up even before a pure stretching session. i guess the only thing you can do now is find out what their argument is. at www.abcbodybuilding.com there is a fascia stretching article... you could try giving them a link to that.

          I remember I was having an argument with this kid over at AskAbunchOfKnowItAllDoucheBags.com, formally known as AskMen.com, about this stuff. I mentioned my way of stretching, and the kid started making fun of me. He was saying only pussies stretch and if he ever saw a guy stretching in the gym he'd laugh his ass off. He then posted some pics of himself and said that after he posted these that I better 'shut up and look what 4 years of hard training can do". He was 6'1" I know and he looked like he weighed about 170. To this day, I laugh my ass off thinking about it and am rest assured it was all a joke...even if it wasn't it was too funny not to be, LOL.

                  he is, but i sent him this awesome recipe. very low fat, can be low carb as well if you choose to leave out the potatoes and rice. i'll post it up on the board sometime. but if time is running short, you could always select a fairly lean chunk, grind em up and wash it wish water.

                    Hey KOTL, just point out a that you know for a fact that about a couple of hundred or so trainees are doing it every other day.
