  • MOOSE meat good source of protein?

I hope it is cause some Canadians found a new rather "expensive" way to harvest/hunt moose meat.

Don't worry no one was killed but the moose.

IN HUMAN clean up that saliva bro...maybe silverback will ship you some... :dcchomp: :Phone:

How the hell did that happen?!?!?! From the looks of it, it looks like the moose jumped out of a damn tree and fell on the car! LOL. Or maybe SB was just slinging it to kill it? I am partial to the latter, LOL

Yeah, tell me about it! Here in Norway the woods are crowded with moose, I hear about cars and trains hitting them almost every day. Damn good meat. Shot one myself once, but don`t tell anyone...

No, not in the hunting season its not illegal, but you still got to have a hunters license and pay a fee depending on the weight of the moose after shooting one.

Oh, I just remebered when I was 11 my gramps and I were driving near the Grand Canyon and we hit a dear, I was like, OMG gramps look what it did your car, gramps was laughing hard, and I said why are you laughing, he said, "well boy, we got venison now for dinner with your taters", and I thought cool, we through that sucker in the trunk and off we went to gut and cook that sucker up, after that I knew everything that walks is in immediate danger of being eaten, by me...

IH did you really eat that? That had to be the worst meat. All bruised and battered like that.

Once on our farm we were paustering some cows on the corn stalks. They had an electric fence on but somehow it shorted or something and all the cows got out and were on the highway. About midnight a guy nails one with his car. Now the cow is big and heavy so the guy just pulled the cow to the side of the road. The next day it is warm out. Late fall indian summer in the 70's to low 80's. Around one of the town drunks pulls up with his truck. The cow looks like a blown up rubber glove with its legs straight up in the air. He winches that cow into his truck and took it home to eat. I imagine he got pretty sick but I never asked him about it.

Log Book PIMP! It ain't a crime if it likes it!

Yes if it got hot then it would have been decomposing nicely, we hit this deer in the winter, so it was sort of flash frozen, growing up in Michigan you learn to eat everything that walks, flies or swims, of course nothing can run cause we all had guns...

Moose?…..Take a ride on MOOSE ALLEY….Route 201 from the West Forks through Jackman, Maine to the US/Canadian border or Route 15 Starting in Jackman heading East to Moosehead Lake, Greenville, ME. Where 100-150 moose are killed yearly. Unfortunately they often take the life of the traveler as well. They are an incredible animal weighing in from 700 to 1200 lbs. For those whom think they are a slow moving animal, you have yet to experience one coming out of the woods and into the road. Once the moose has cross the road in front of you, don’t think they won’t change there mind and want to cross back again, all in a matter of a few seconds. If you like to hunt there is a lottery pick each year. Majority going to Maine residence, with an increasing number going to non-residence each year. The meat is good tasting, some where between venison and beef. It best cooked slowly in a crock pot…Large ONE LOL. One friend of mine returning home from work came upon a moose walking the road towards them. Unfortunately the moose had wandering into an area of the road that was barricaded by guard rail on the edge of drop of and step cliffs embankment on the other. The driver of the car stopped giving the moose a chance to maneuver around the car. Instead the moose literally stepped on the hood of the car, moving on to the windshield and then slide down the side of the car. Creating thousands of $ worth of damage. The stories are endless likewise with the amount of meat in the freeze if you so choose to tag one.
PS Yes if you hit one with your vehicle you are entitled to it. But for most they pass it up simply because of the reminder of the bad experience, the damage to the vehicle and/or moose it self.
