I was wondering if one was to be overly strict when controlling the negative phase on any given exercise if it would affect strength gains/progress. I ask because I had someone time me during my shoulder stretch last night and 60secs was up well before I would have counted it to be. That got me thinking that I might be doing longer negatives on my exercises than I thought, and that it possibly could be hurting my progress due to overly taxing my muscles?
