  • Supplement Use

    I need some help with my supplements. I would like your opinions on when and how to use them in order to get the max effect. I currently use Optimum 100% Whey, Glutamine and creatine. I'm 182 lbs, 45 yrs old. I just started lifting again after 13 year break. My schedule looks like this. I lift on Sun, Tue and Thur. Cardio on Mon, Wed and sometimes on Sat. My daily routine looks as such.

    5 am wake
    6:15 out the door to work (42 miles one way)
    4 pm get off work
    5 pm work out
    6:15 pm at home finally

    Supplements
    6 am 2 scoops whey & 5 grams glutamine in 8 oz skim milk
    6:15 pm 2 scoops whey, 5 grams glutamine in 8 oz skim milk, and an 8oz glass of grape juice with 10 grams creatine

    I have also ordered some pure dextrose sugar so it will be arriving soon.

    Help me get this stuff sorted out into a good pre and post workout mix.

    Here is what I do

    7am work starts 80 grams Team Skip from trueprotien
    I take my Multi's-caffine-Tribulus then also
    930 roast beef sandwich-50 grams
    1200 2 chicken breasts or 1lb lean washed beef
    3 package of albacore-50grams
    4-V-12 and ephedrine tab
    430 work out
    620 Post work out shake. 75 grams special mix true potien.
    8 Steak
    1030 night time mix true protien 75 grams
    when ever I get up to p night time mix true protien 75 grams

      first thing you need to do is throw out the Optimun protein. Get yourself a quality protein from TRUEPROTEIN, not advertising here, just trying to suggest a a QUALITY protein. You can get the gluatimine and creatine added to it.

        While I understand promoting sponsors let's not put down a legitimately good product which Optimum is. No offense but I think it is hands down one of the cleanest and best proteins out there on the market.

          I'm not gonna post my diet because WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO, lol...but here is my supplementation schedule for a workout day *excluding whey, everything is the same on a non workout day except for creatine and glutamine, basically pre and post workout*.

          upon waking:
          1200mg Calcium
          50,000 IU Beta Carotene
          500mg Vit. B6
          Glucosamine/Chondroitin
          1000mg Vit C
          1000 IU Vit E
          2 Multis
          MSM & Glucosamine

          pre workout:
          20g Glutamine
          1000mg Vit C
          1000 IU Vit E

          post workout:
          10g Creatine
          1000mg Vit C
          1000 IU Vit E

          Bed:
          Same as morning with addition of 4 ZMA

            If have not tried True Protein you are missing out, Optimum was terrible in my system, gas, bloat like almost 98% of the proteins on the market...

              I use Optimum Whey...and like it a lot.

              BUT, I have also recently ordered some True Protein. So I will see soon how I like it.

              I might just use the True Protein to make my post workout blend...and keep using my Optimum to make my regular shakes.

                I have also used Optimum and I am also waiting for a true protein order. I didnt have any problems with the optimum though.

                  Optimum is very, very similar to chocolate WPC w/ stevia from TP, but I prefer TPs because it is even less expensive, mixes much easier and doesn't give me gas/bloat. I can't wait to try WPI.

                      I got the 50lb wpi special. Works out to the same price per lb, but the wpi is a better protein than the blend used in ON. Nothing wrong with the ON, it's just that pure wpi for the price can't be beat.

                        I will definitely be ordering from them. Right now it's not cost effective for me. I use egg protein and I can get it cheaper through dps, but I need some flavor soon and I will order from them at that time.
