  • Calf Stretching?

I know DC says that when he does calves he doesn't need to stretch them after because he stretches for 5seconds at the bottom of each rep BUT I did that and my calves are still bloody sore 3 days later (man the pain is out of this world). Would doing extreme stretching of the calves as well as the 5second stretch during the set aid in recovery?

BTW: this training rocks. Only been going a few days. I love all the food too !!!

5 seconds at the bottom? Try 15.

Isn't it 5 second negative, and a 10 second stretch?

Well, it's 5 seconds to get to the bottom and then a 15 second stretch...I sitll count that as part of the negative though.

oops- obviously I read it wrong....or maybe I read something that was a bit old. Maybe the 15seconds will help recovery- would doing extreme stretch AS WELL as this help or hinder?

Just as Usmuscle said--5 seconds down to get into the full stretch, 15 seconds at the bottom and then back up on your big toe again-(repeat)

Do it like it's outlined from the man himself up above. It's excruciating but it's also and awesome way of training your calves. They will grow for sure if you know how to push yourself. I personally stretch them a little less intense at the end of the set for like 30 seconds... just so I can walk again.

They will certainly grow very fast with this but it also hurts like hell.

By the sixth rep I hate Dante's guts, by the 10th rep I pretend he looks like "Layne" and I am bigger, and if I make to 12, he never existed in my head, then after I can walk again 20 minutes later, I can only think of how smart he is for making my claves 20"...

Hey I hate my own ass at 6 reps. Im usually shaking pretty damn hard at rep 6-7 and the grimace on my face is not a pretty sight. I find my hands doing strange things to get thru the pain--like going to to top of my head, then down on my thighs and back to my head again and then tapping something like the rack--I must look like a psychotic mess. My wife watches me from afar and says it looks like Im in agony (wow good deduction honey)
