Hey guys, I've got a dumb question about the weights of barbells. A guy at my gym swears that one of the barbells is a 55 pounder, while all the others are the normal 45 pounders. I have always used the one that is a supposed 55 pounds (for inclines, militaries, behind the necks, rows, rack deads, and curls). Knowing that continual progession is all that matters, I've kept on using the "55 pounder," but recently I've had to start lifting at a busier time in the gym and don't have the luxury of picking and choosing barbells, so I was wondering if I would need to adjust the weights if I can't use that particular one. It doesn't feel 10 pounds heavier. Have you guys heard of 55 pound barbells?

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a pristine, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, used up, worn out, and shouting, "Holy #$&^%$^... What a ride!!!"
