  • More tricep ideas?

I need some more ideas for tricep exercises...
I had been doing Skullcrushers, Close Grip Bench, and a tricep machine - but I want to get rid of the isolation exercise and get something more heavy duty in there... I also got kicked in the nuts by the log book on close grip yesterday, so I need to replace it with something. I
I know some of you guys are doing reverse grip bench, so thats one new option - but what else do you guys consider "good" tricep exercises? I was thinking close grip on the smith machine to replace standard close grip ... but I need more options to replace things if I bomb out again - which I don't plan to do - bumped up my eating a little more since I was so pissed about yesterday! :dcchomp:

Aaron, use reverse grip on the smith. It's a great exercise. I do both close grip and reverse grip on the smith and it has helped a ton. I suffer from weak tri development but these two exercises have helped a ton.

            decline close-grips

smith-machine lockouts - pin the rack at 1/3 - 1/2 of the range of motion. bring the weight down to the pins and back up. you should be able to handle a considerable amount more weight since you're limiting your range of motion. really hits the tris w/ little to now delt/chest assist.

Great suggestions guys - I had thought about dips, but I was wondering just how good of a tricep workout I would get after my pecs and delts are completely toasted... Maybe if I moved triceps to after back on the day I do dips....

              Okay and what are:
              3)J presses
4)Lying on the Floor EZ Curls with a Cambered bar
              ?

Again, thanks for the ideas - some of those I would never have thought of (decline close grips, and smith lockouts especially)!

here's a link, but I'm not sure Dante does them exactly as this site does?

                    here's the link: http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/exercise3/jmpress.htm

The floor extensions are just that, triceps extensions performed on the floor, when you lower the weight down to the floor instead of your forehead.

I tell ya what I like doing is lying triceps extensions w/ dumbells instead of a cambered bar. keep the dumbells in your hands w/ a palms facing body grip(i.e. hammer curl position). I feel more isolation and takes the wrist pain out. Try these man.

I honestly dont know how much more basic and mass adding you can get for your tris than skull crushers and narrow grip benches. IMO those are the ultimate mass building exercises for tris,, anyone else agree??

I love the close grip and reverse grip on the smythe....pounded some out today actually....I also like the weighted bench dips, u can use plates or a fixed weight bar (like u would use with rack chins
