  • Aspartame

    Hey guys,

I have been feeling very very tired the last couple of weeks, to the point it made me a little depressed. I thought wtf is going on. I have never been the "cannot sit on my ass gotta have something to do type" but this was different. Even had an extra bloodwork done. Well nothing was wrong with me. Had everything checked that had could to do with being tired. I'm as healthy as can be.

So what was/is the problem? I accidently came across a site about aspartame. Did you know what this stuff can do to you? Then it struck me, I have never eaten so much protein since I started DC"s training. My proteine contains aspartame.
I never have gotten so much aspartame in my body since a couple of months ago.
Could this be the problem I thought?
I threw away all the light drinks from the fridge tossed away my protein and bought aspartame free protein.

Well I haven't gotten any aspartame in my body since a week now and I think I'm feeling better!

So I have 2 questions for the goeroes or anyone else with some feedback:

    1. Could the aspartame trigger chronic tiredness (haha do I spell this right?)
or is my mind playing tricks with me? I had some stress business related too so.....

    2. How come my bloodwork looks better while ON then while OFF even the liver values?

    Thanks guys!!

What sweetener should I choose when I order from Tpc? Is any of them more recommended than the others? I know aspartam is on their list of sweeteners.

I'd recommend in the following order...Stevia, Sucralose, Plain.

As of the past two weeks when I'm at work I drink like 5 or 6 diet cokes in a day. Yea I know, pitiful, but i'll change that soon. I havn't felt tired or any other side effects. Then again, aspartame is whats in diet soda isn't it?

Well man I think you are just a bit overtrained to me, for the tiredness part and your Liver Enzymes can be up from high protein intake to heavy training.

Remember everything acts different in everyones body, so who knows maybe its in your head since you read it, or Aspartame really does mess you up...

only thing i use is stevia or plain, we carry the others because people request them. but in all honesty, i would choose aspartame over sucralose any day. i know they are claiming it is the next big thing and how it is naturally derived from table sugar (sucrose), but i could show you guys some scary ass studies, that would blow you away.

as well, i also think saccharine is safer than aspartame/sucralose/acesulfame k. for some reason it just got a bad rap. granted it would probably be best if you didn't use any of the above, but overall i believe it is safer. you have to realize, the calorie free sweetener market is like the pharmaceutical market. it is driven by money, not health or the greater good for nutritional values. the're are big companies dictating what sweeteners are approved by the fda (aspartame and sucralose). for example: it is illegal to claim stevia as a dietary sweetener, it has to be under the realm of a dietary supplements. for what reasons? economics hands down. stevia, if approved by the fda as a food, would absolutly blow all artificial sweeteners out of the market. now these big companies can't have that know can they, lol.

i would personally stick with stevia, plain or possibly fructose if you don't mind the extra carbs.

My liver enzymes weren't up , there were fine. Bloodwork in the whole was fine even better then when off the juice. That was my question.

Sorry to cross over to the pound, but I needed to speak on this:

Aspartame Disease is partially the cause behind some of the mystery of the Desert Storm health problems. The burning tongue and other problems in over 60 cases can be directly related to the consumption of an aspartame product. Several thousand pallets of diet drinks were shipped to the Desert Storm troops.
( Remember..Heat can liberate the methanol from aspartame at 86 degrees F.)

Diet drinks sat in the 120 degree Arabian sun for weeks at a time on pallets. The service men and women drank them all day long. All of their symptoms are identical to aspartame poisoning. ( Dr. Roberts is a specialist on diabetes and a world expert on aspartame poisoning, and has also written a book entitled: Defense Against Alzheimers Disease.)

Note: It often takes at least 60 days without ANY aspartame or Nutrasweet to see a significant improvement.

Aspartame can mimic or worsen many diseases including: fibromyalgia, arthritis, MS, lupus, diabetes and diabetic complications, chronic fatigue syndrome, ADD and ADHD, depression and many other psychological disorders.

I would opt for using stevia. A sweet food, not an additive, which helps in the metabolism of sugar, ( ideal for diabetics), has now been approved by the FDA. For years the FDA outlawed this sweet food because of their loyalty to Monsanto.

But in other words even if I felt like shit from aspartame I coudn't feel any better after 1 1/2 week without it now?
