  • DC training while dieting?

Have any of you guys used DC training while dieting? Just wondering what the results were.

  • #2
Yep - worked well. I just adjusted the rest-pause down a bit (from triple to double in my case) and actually managed to go up a/o stay the same in most everything.

Here's a nice post on this: see Dante's post in particular.

I am 7 weeks out and my strength has not gone down. I am bumping my cardio up some since I jumped my carbs up just a little until I am about 5 weeks then I will start cutting back, and hitting my cardio outside in the Texas heat.

I just did a small diet this spring, nothing major by any means just 8 weeks to get my bf somewhat respectable. To be honest the rest pauses were killing me when I cut my carbs back to almost nothing. I decided several weeks into the diet to drop back to straight sets. When I went back to the straight sets my strength actually started going back up again. I now know the next time I pound the diet and cardio that straight sets are the way to go for me. You have to just test yourself and see how your body responds. If your strength starts going backwards I would go the the straight sets... Hope this helps

              No cardio here.

If you're on low carbs and want any hope of "surviving" RP training, you'll have to replace carbs w/ a post-workout drink a/o w/ carbs taken in during your workout.

                Dear Homonuculus:

Not everybody is such a genetic freak. If you did cardio you'd probably be as transparent as a Gecko. Having such abnormally low Bodyfat levels isnt good for you!
Youre bound to catch a cold easily, you must have no lubriction on your tendons, it has to be uncomfortable sitting on your siatic nerve, and if you miss one meal, jeeeez, your certainly going to going to immediatly go into ketosis..... My Brotha, you need to eat something fried! Im worried about you Randy!

I started off with 5, 30 minute sessions a week. If your progress comes to a halt I would bump it up to 40 minutes and if things get real nasty you can hit two sessions a day. Also I would completely avoid cario on legs days,, JMO.

Jealousy will get you nowhere, my good friend. LOL.

Frankly, I have tried the cardio route - I just lose muscle that way. Providing that kind of stimulus to my muscle cells is just what they want and diabolically opposed to that of the wt. training.

And yes, all those nasty side effects of being a low BF% are true (and I am in ketosis most of the time anyway...), but its the status quo in Freaksville... ;^)

Yes -I am jealous... I am not a lean person my nature. I am of Russian decent and am blessed with the ability to maintain a death grip on my bodyweight, like it or not. I can gain weight easily, but my stingy, greedy fat cells just dont want to give it up!

Skip was shocked at my ability to any maintain size when he saw my diet from the first 21 weeks. He claims to have the remedy for that though!!!

                          Sweat,

Sounds like a lady friend of mine who is also of Russian descent - she's build like a brick shithouse, despite TONS of cardio all the time. Fat loss is impossible almost for her, but she could be HUGE if she wanted to...
