  • Blood Work and Heavy Training.

Who here gets regular blood work and if they do do they stop training for a few days prior?

I ask since cleaning out 3 months ago and still supporting a solid 280 plus pound bodyweight I have had blood pulled monthly. (It was 288) but I have dropped the DC training but not the MG eating, training heavy but stopping 2-3 reps of failure in attempt to cruise for 3-4 months and then Dogg it back to 300 and bust it down to 250 for the states-different story getting off topic here.

I got the best insurance in the world but I pay for this stuff outta my own pocket as most DOCs are pricks and deem blood work unneccesary if you ask for it.
I use www.direct labs.com and $89 gives me everything plus the results are mine.
My ? is certain levels in my blood have always been elevated due to heavy training I got blood work from years ago before I even knew what an AAS was but trained heavy and liver and kidney values were elevated somewhat.

I have made a note of it or habit to try and get blood drawn after 2 days rest...but this week I can't afford the time off I gotta train TR-Friday...and blood work is due Friday.

Oh well I'll just check it and see and this blood work anytime I want it is tha bomb I am really learning a lot about my body...without having to go through a doc who's entire conversation after looking at my chart is "YOU NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT. YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE IS TOO HIGH AT 135/85"
After stripping down.."WHY are your thighs so swollen?"
You get t :Phone: he pic, I am fortunate enough to have 4 years of pre-med under my belt as well as dating a Nurse Practioner...but still leave the real assesments to the MD's. :grumpy:

G, I get mine done every two months and since I work at a college we get a chem panel with Yhyroid for $10.00, and I have noticed that my Liver Enzymes ALT go sky high not only with supers but with high protein and muscle breakdown of DC's training, but my Cholesterol still stays below 150, HDL is in the toliet, but you know very well what that is from, but when I am off for 8 weeks its back to 55 the HDL, Triglycerides are around 170, BP stays right around 130/78 while "on" still Hypertensive and 115/68 while off, but you know BF will flutuate just seeing that white coat...

I get mine every 6 months. Everything but creatinine levels are fine when off. But the supers put my Cholesterol off. Not as bad as other people though. I check my Test levels too just to try and see if I am back to normal.

thanks for the responses guys. Although I have and despise orals...I have had elevated liver enzymes from things like Celebrex and Advil and aspirin..not too high but still high enough for the doc to ??...so off everything they are on the high end of normal last blood work was with 2 days of traiing so if they are a bit higher I will know why!

I was hoping I would be suppresed on the test levels but the levels were in the high range and continue to be...after 3 months off with just a taper and "0" clomid HCG and or anti E's-don't beleive in any of them when it comes to recovery for me anyway.
too bad I was hoping the doc would throw me a legal friendly 100 mg every week of UPJOHN when I fired back up again. :o :grumpy: :kick: :Punch: :p

Hate to tell you this but next time get your BW done in the morning and eat your last meal about 10pm night before..A quick fast will lower your test levels..Sucks but it works...

G, You know the orals are no different in my system then oils, and my Enzymes are back to normal in 2 months at the lastest.

I can't beleive you did not do any PCT, what is wrong with you, depending on your duration it may take some time to rebound back, few months may not be enough.

I know you know your system better than anyone, is this your normal protocal?...

Just got my blood work back from my DR. and he made me go get my kidneys checked again. So I went got a sonogram on my kidneys and then made me collect my urine for 24 hours. He thought my kidneys were not functioning properly . Asked if I was taking any supps. Adviced yes protein, creatine, and glutamine. He wants me to back off all 3.

I got mine done just a month ago and everything was pretty close to on but they said I had 1 elevated liver enzyme which may not be a big deal but I want that shit perfect, ya know! They said I am at a risk of cardiovascular disease as well. But, this is family related and probably would be there regardless. He wants me to do more cardio(I do none w/ an exception of contest time). Any thoughts?

Just a note...Homocystiene is a much more accurate marker than cholesterol for cardiovascular disease...if you eat alot of fried foods, scrambled eggs, possibly even grilled foods-then you want to make sure folic acid is supplemented as Cy's article mentioned.

i had blood and urine work done in Feb., and all was A-ok except i had protein in my urine. this is a signal of kidneys not doing the job. so my doc said. asked me about training and supps, and i said yes and yes. the point was i had did a hella leg workout the night before, and he told me not to eat or drink anything for 12 hours before, or so i thought. he said no food, but fluids are ok. i went back the next week took 3 days off the gym beforehand and drank fluids as normal and that fixed that problem. tested at 0 mg/dl of protein in urine.

If you are "on" or high protein or intense training can elevate ALT...

I always had low cholesterol 118 and triglycerides 140 my whole life, my HDL was only 54 once so I decided the the day before the test to eat oinoins all throughout the day, fast 12 hours and my numbers came back 88 HDL and 26 LDL and 8 VLDL, so your test can get out of whack with food intake the day prior and fasting...
