It finally happened at IM!

The great things about IntenseMuscle and the people that communicate here are too many to list. However, one of the best things was the lack of political and religious debate/argument/banter that clogs other boards and has the potential to destroy 'relationships.'
I'm not saying that we all don't have the ability to talk about various topics intelligently and respectfully, but human nature WILL win and name calling & flaming & banning will most likely be the result. On a board filled with strong minded and strong willed people political and religious discussions will almost always turn into heated debates, using the term loosely because a debate allows for different viewpoints and an exchange of information and ideas and opinions. Before long, we've got people screaming and yelling and name-calling through their keyboards because they aren't being agreed with. And, everyone that posts anything political/religious insists, without any room for negotiation, that they are absolutely right and that what they say is fact.
I just don't think a message board geared around health and building muscle is the appropriate forum for political debate.
But that is just my opinion.

I agree 100%, I come here to learn how to build a bigger me... not to figure out who I'm gonna vote for.

Then again I'm not sure what The Munster is referring too but I hate political\religious debates online.

We recently toyed with a political forum over at IBB. As of this afternoon, that sucker is closed. It did not survive a week. I think that people who wish to discuss politics are best served doing it other than on a fitness board. This is a powder keg, and people that were friends will end up hating each other over something as simple as politics.

I can honestly say that I, as well, was depressed to see it here.

I have seen these kind of threads just ruin other boards like MM is a perfect example, I know this board is smaller right now, but this stuff ain't good, and I for one don't think we need it here...

I avoid political religous topics like the black plague....for me religon is private and we all know our opinion means nothing to any politician.
I know for a fact we sent 5,000 letters to our congressman in NC in favor of NOT banning Ephedra..and they voted to ban it.
I know there are other things behind it but damn that was a lot of energy wasted.

IH told me that nothing pisses people off like religion and politics and man was he right. I just want to say that I am sorry if I offended any of you with my views and I promise to keep them off of the board from this point on.

The bottom line is we are a small band of guys "iron warriors" and we should stick together despite our different views on life, politics and religion. I hope that I did not piss anyone off and let's all remember we are in this game of getting big together and we need to support each other because believe me the cards are stacked against us.
