  • New logbook idea...

I've been using an old notebook to keep track of the workouts... but I have been getting things mixed up a lot lately (I don't write down the exercise name, just the workout number) and I decided to make it easier on myself... just thought I would share...
I used an excel spreadsheet that I plan to print off and write on so I can see my progression over time a lot better than by flipping back through pages of a beat up notebook...
I uploaded the form to my site, so you can view it there... comments or suggestions are appreciated Try to ignore the weights I have in there - I am a wuss.

Edit: The "Aaron" tab is my stuff - obviously... the "Eric" tab is the guy I work out with...

That looks like the same shit they did in this place I went to in mexico last summer,,, lol. I am also a dork and took pics of them too,,, lol.

Hey a buddy of mine had an idea that was slick. You could use a palm pilot instead of a log book and just upload your workouts into excel. I don't know if I am that patient to figure it out, but it was a cool idea. Only problem is, I like to throw my log book and stomp on it sometimes when I don't hit my weights. That might not work out to well with the palm pilot. LOL

I have an Ipaq pocket PC that works very well. you can type up the format on your computer and download it to the Pocket PC. after entering your workout info, just plug it into the cradle and upload it to your permanent records on your PC....NICE!
you can even get fancy and do some stupid graph shit with pretty colors and everything.......just dont throw it on the ground and stomp on it..

Great ideas guys, but I personally like to write out my workout on my logbook and the pc. I even write out the weight that I am going to use, but of course, I also judge how I feel when I am there and sometimes do more than I expected. It helps me to get a good mindset of what I want to accomplish when I write it all out like that. Hell, I even scribble and gash the paper every once in a while when I get pissed off at it.

Tried the palm pilot type idea with an HP Jornada. It worked well but within a couple weeks my expensive little handheld looked like it had been through a war zone. Sweated all over it, dropped it, almost crushed it a few times. I went back to the notebook.

PT, nice spreadsheet. I do something similar for my logs. I use the notebook at the gym then enter everything into the sheet when I get around to it.

I just did a quick check on downloads.com and found "Quick Office" ... it has a version of Excel that runs in the Palm OS (I have a Palm IIIxe) ... I'm going to give that a try and see how it works... I want to get a newer one that runs windows - but hard to justify when this one still works!
