  • No workout partner

I have some pressing movements to do today and my workout partner isn't available.

    Any ideas?

I can't be guaranteed that someone at the gym will be there that can help me out either. Should I try and reschedule the workout for tomorrow (then push the friday one to saturday), or should I just go in tonight and hope for the best?

Decline Bench and Military Press are in the workout today.

Easto, Can you perform these on a Smythe, it will be a little easier and safer, either way you can still lift, just remember no ego here, select weight properly...

I don't know if I can do decline on the smith, but I will give it a try.

The gym only has 1 movable decline bench so if no one is on it, I'll steal it and bring it up stairs to the smith machine.

I'll give it a go tonight then!

Ive worked out on my own almost since i started. My cousin trained with me for 6 months but gave up. He wanted to be big but had no desire. WUSS.

Anyway at first i asked people for a spot, then i got use to judging weights i could lift and going to failure with out actually needing an assisted lift.

Should try and get use to it.

If you are supposed to finish the lift on the negative, then I would feel good to have someone there to lift it off of me if I can't re rack it.

          Smith it is!

Easto, Well when you fail on that super slow negative, hopefully you can just turn and lock it right there, and squirm out, then get up on that bench and shrug it up to the top and lock it so you are ready for the next part of that workset.

Oh I forgot, do not listen to FH, he is the strongest guy on this board, so pay him no mind...

I workout solo too and that is the biggest pain in the balls trying to bring the bar back up to the top!

If you're in the smith (Incline or shoulder presses) just rack it at the bottom stand up,put one shoulder under the bar and squat it back to the top

Yea smiths are great, except for the fact that the smith machine my gym has is a peice of shit. I makes 135 feel like 225 on every exercise, and the hooks are all shitted out and rusty, almost impossible to re-rack up higher during a RP set.... can't wait to get back to school where the real smith's are.

That's exactly how I do it, especially when the weights are getting to heavy to row or shrug up. Basically get it to the point where you can squat it up, yeah buddy.

If you guys do something like Rack Chins, do you just ask someone at the gym to help you place the weights on your lap?

I can't think of anyway to do this one solo.

Easto, You can get very creative, make your weight belt loose and put plates on your lower back between you and the belt, use a dipping belt backwards, use a chain with your weight belt, backpack full of weight and of course some wipe standing around with nothing to do...
