  • interesting drug death stats

DAWN (drug awareness warning network), the CDC, and SAMHSA

    Deaths in 2002

    430,000 from tobacco
116,113 from alcohol, almost ¼ were drunk driving accidents, 32% of those were from binge drinking (been guilty of that one,, lol)
200,000 from prescription and over the counter drug interactions
0 steroid deaths, I looked everywhere and could not find 1 death attributed to steroids, but I could be wrong

emergency room visits from drug use stats for 2002

    Acetaminophen (Tylenol) — 28,720 (Ranked 8th)
    Alcohol— 207,395 (Ranked 1st)
    Marijuana — 119,362 (Ranked 3rd)
    Aspirin — 7,494 (25th)
    Fluoxetine (Prozac) — 5,770 (29th)
    Alprazolam (Xanax) — 27,659 (9th)
    Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) — 5,430 (32nd)
    Ibuprofen (Advil) — 15,867 (14th)
    Oxycodone (OxyContin) — 14,996 (15th)
    Naproxen (Aleve) — 4,576 (35th)
    Caffeine — 1,999 (59th)
    Amoxicillin — 830 (89th)
    Codeine — 1,237 (73rd)
    Hydrocodone — 2,420 (51st)
    Morphine — 2,775 (48th)
    Ephedrine — 1,033 (79th)
    Prednisone — 348 (137th)
    Multivitamin with Minerals — 376 (131st)
    Herbal Products — 415 (126th)
    Metformin — 505 (116th)
    Cocaine — 199,198 (2nd)
    Heroin — 93,519 (4th)
    Androgens/Anabolic Steroids — 319 (142nd)

Okay this is what I thought was funny multivitamins and Caffeine ranked higher for causes of emergency room visits than did steroids. Also, most steroid related emergency room visits were attributed to infections of one sort or another.
Just some shit to think about when it comes to the BS our news and leaders feed us. .

Very interesting. Funnny they don't post these facts when they're trying to bash steroids on Dateline or something of that nature.

One thing to keep in mind is the percentage of people that use Asprin, caffeine, alcohol, etc. compared to the percentage of people that use steroids and ephedra.

Sorry, just trying to be the voice of reason.:p

very true bbc,,, not saying they are completely safe that would be unreasonable to do so. All I am trying to show is how hypocrytical the stance taken by our government on drugs is. Prohibition does not work whether it is alcohol or AAS's. It never stops anyone and it tends to make things even worse..

A lot of steroid problems are long term and can not be directly related to them. Much like McDonalds can't be directly related to obesity.

Anyway, apart from that - I think your preaching the choir here. I don't thing anyone in here is going to be anti-steroid. Interesting nonetheless. I'd love to see someone who is overdosing on caffeine. I imagine that would be funny to watch.

And I call bullshit on the Marijuana statistic - I'm sure they managed to relate a host of problems that don't exist to pot.
