  • Tuna

I need to start increasing my protein and I find it tough to do with eggs, beef, and Chicken.

I was wondering how I can get some extra protein and I thought of you guys. I hear that DC makes you eat protein like crazy and I was wondering if any of you have any trick to get down food you don't like (but you need the protein content).

For example, I hate tuna, but I want to learn to like it. It is a good source of protein and also fat.

Does anyone have a tip/recipe/trick to help me shovel down some tuna? I'll try anything (well, almost anything )

Ive heard alot of things about tuna.

Ok some people have done this. They'll stick the tuna in a blender along with some coke and blend it up and drink that. Now sounds gross but a few people like it.

I on the other hand cant stand tuna. I do everything to avoid it but in the certain circumstances that i have to eat it i do this.

Sandwich. Add low fat mayo and natural yoghurt to the tuna. Mix it up. Then add mustard to the bread. And slap on the tuna. Eliminates dryness. And it doesnt taste that bad.

Other thing ive tried a couple times. Put tuna in a bowl. Add some ragu sauce. I dunno what u guys call it. Dolmio maybe. The sauce u use for pasta. Then stick it in the microwave for a minute and eat it with a fork.

Tuna is never tasty. But it goes great with other things too. Like a baked potato. Or try it on top of pizza. You'll hardly notice it.

Ok and now im out of ideas. Good luck :dcchomp:

Hell, my first post here may as well be about food!! Howdy y'all!!

Easto, what about regular fish? That's always an option for some good protein. I happen to enjoy tuna right out of the can so I'm not much help there. I know I've seen the flavored tuna's in the store...those may be more palatable, but just watch the sodium content. I assume you also hit a few shakes a day as well? I try to hit about 250g's from shakes, then add 250-300 more from eggs, chicken, beef and fish.

              Happy eatin' bro!

I think I might mix the tuna in some ragu sauce and heat it on the stove for a little while. I think that might take a good chunk of the taste away!!

                  Keep them coming guys!!!

a good hot sauce usually does pretty good at hiding nasty tasting stuff.

I currently still like tuna. I just add a little mustard and it's good to go!

                      Hope this helps:
Recipe1: Cut fresh mint, mix some tomatoes, add olive oil, add pepper and there you have a nice tuna salad very yummy

Recipe2: 4 tablespoons of low fat fresh cream, pasta, 1 tsp of parmeggian and LOTS Of tuna. Pasta with tuna... delicous

Recipe3: HOT TUNA!!! Yummy also, If you can get hold of some felfel (turkish extract of chili) you can throw a tbsp to the tuna add more pepper to make hot stuff and tell me if it doesn't taste good

Funny you ask, this morning was the first time I've eaten tuna for a few weeks and damn was it excellent. It is a variation of my ground beef/cheese/eggs recipe. First you take 4 egg whites, 2 whole eggs, 2 servings fat free cheese and two cans tuna. Turn your stove to medium heat and warm a large frying pan with some PAM sprayed on. Toss on the eggs and tuna, seasoning as you would like. Towards the end, add cheese and let that stuff melt nicely throughout! I then serve it on two whole wheat tortillas.

Allen I was gonna post that same recipe except with boiled beef in place of the tuna. Either way, it's a delicious recipe filled with quality protein... I just had it this morning with some tabasco dabbed on top and some oatmeal.... mmmm breakfast.
