  • Are there any exercises for abbs?

Are abbs done directly in this program at all, or is it all just indirect work? I was working abbs once or twice a week before I went back to doing Dogg again. What does this program reccomend?

Just fit in some sets in between exercises like when you are waiting for a machine. If you are lifting heavy ass core movements, your abs will get work... so DC doesn't have any direct work, just fit some in when you feel it's needed.

I do them on leg day. One set to failure. They are warmed up from everything else. I go 15-20 reps and I try and add more weight everytime. This is mostly because I do not have very thick abs. So I am trying to build them up.

So would it be a bad idea to do abs like other body parts in DC's program.

I mean should we not pick 3 ab exercises to rotate between and try to add reps or increase resistance (i.e., beat that damn log book) with each workout? Sounds like rugbythug is doing something like this.

Racking my encyclopedic mind I seem to recall Dante posting about ab training many months ago. He said when asked that he did them if he had to wait for a piece of equipment....2 sets of 15-20 or so.Nothing spectacular.Of course try to select exercises that you can apply some resistance to over time.Hanging leg raises were one of his abs choices--same protocol as other bodyparts tempo wise--which is slow negatives and controlled but quicker concentrics....
OK..that's my one helpfull post for this week. Can I go back to goofing off now?

This is how DC says to do ABS
Alternate between hanging or elbow supported leg raises with progressive weights and something like the nautilus nitro ab crunch machine with a weight stack.
Straight sets are done --and the rep range is 15-30.
Whenever someone reaches at least 22 reps he goes up in weight next time.
With leg raises this will be going up the rack with dumbells held in your feet--5-10-15-20 etc.
Warmup first with a bodyweight set
This is a bodypart where i like to see people do the true 6 second negative and explosive positive on.
"This sport is about extremes - using weights you havent used previously, taking in amounts of food to build greater muscle mass-in amounts you never have done previously, & doing the cardio to keep you at an acceptable offseason training bodyfat that keeps you happy." Dante

Naah....I do cardio 3 days a week.It becomes very necessary when you get to 300lbs+ not just for fat loss but to keep the old ticker beating good and strong

hmmmmm i was under the impression every calorie counts towards growth, and cardio would burn calories, hence hinder growth to a very small extent. Someone please debunk what i just said. . .

with the amount that they eat i don't think a little cardio is gonna hinder that much... it's not like he's running 10 mile marothons

just to recap abbs could be done on off days or on training days as long as progression occurs, correct?
