In-Human spells it like that, not on purpose, but because the spelling portion of his brain is overwhelmed by thoughts of pot roasts, cows, and 7 year-old boys forearms(especially the latter).

I spelled it smythe for a week or to, then changed back to smith... just choose one or the other
