  • Workout 1, round 2

Hey, are these exercise choices ok?

    Workout 1 last time was:

    Slight Incline Smith press
    Smith overhead/military press
    Lying DB triceps extension
    Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns
    SLDL

For the next one I'm thinking:

Slight incline, wide grip smith press
Seated DB press (I presume I should stay away from isolation exercises if possible, so lateral raises etc are out)
    Flat Smith Close grip press
    Close grip lat pulldowns
    One arm DB rows

are these all ok choices? (i.e. none are frowned upon like the flat chest press)

    thanks

i would ditch the db ext for tris since your going to be doing the stretch with db,, for tris do skullcrushers lying down, reverse bp or dips,, just my opinion

maybe I gave it the wrong name but what I meant by lying tri ext is basically skullcrushers with db ?

reverse bench will be the third exercise for triceps in workout 1

i'm confused.. you do not modify the exercises every round. it stays the same so you can better monitor your progress.

I thought you picked three exercises per body part and rotated them one after the other as you come to each "workout 1".

          e.g. for chest
          Monday WO1: incline smith press
          Wed WO2
Fri WO1: WG incline smith press
          Mon WO2
          Wed WO1: DB Hammer press
          Fri WO2
Mon WO1: Incline smith press, annihilate previous
          Wed WO2
Fri WO1: WG incline smith press.... etc etc

only when you fail to increase do you drop that exercise and introduce another.

I mean do I have it wrong?

Ok, things are really confusing but here is the bottom line. If this is your fourth time working chest/shoulders/triceps/back, meaning it is the first workout of the second rotation, then it would be the very same exercises as your very first workout in the first rotation. You go into the gym, add weight and try to get more reps this time too. In other words, rape the fucking log book.

no, this the second time I am working the upper body. My title is confusing.

We agree on the routine basically, are these exercises all good ?

dam im dumb.. so anyway on your first workout you did this :
                Slight Incline Smith press
                Smith overhead/military press
Lying DB triceps extension (still try skullcrushers more of a compound movement)
                Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns
SLDL ( on back thickness try deadlifts , sldl are more for hams)

your second choices look good im just not big on db rows for thickness,, just my opinion as well someone might say different , i would recommend rack deads or tbar rows instead

yea bro, let me clear this up:

                  monkeyd woekouts: 1,2,3, 1-2, 2-2, 2-3, 1-3, 1-2, 1-3, repeat at 1

they are telling u to think of them like this:1, 2,3,4,5,6 repeat at 1

u are sying the same thing in a different way.

lol, I'm about to complete my master's chemistry degree at Oxford, and I have NO idea what byrd said , but, I'm happy we're on the same page.

I love DB rows, I feel I've had good success with them in the past. The thing is I already did SLDL last week, so I was looking to avoid another deadlift this time ?

ok, i think it makes sense now.. this is workout 3. ok. big byrd.. that looks like jibberish... but you see, round 2 means your back to the first workout again.. thats where the confusion sets in.

so you are at round 1, workout 3.

                        right you are, sorry.

Well, the first three exercises were good.

My grip totally sucks, and it prevented me from doing a good CG lat pulldown.

After that failed, I instead replaced it with a straight arm lat pulldown which went well (except it's an isolation movement).

Again I can't do a hanging stretch because my grip fails me early. I just grabbed a bar and pulled hard for a minute feeling my lats stretch hard.

I did a machine row for the thickness, again my damn grip prevented me going all out...

So annoying, I have grip straps but they don't work that well.
