  • prepping food?

Do you guys cook food in bulk and then keep it in the fridge sometimes? Tonight I cooked a shitload of chicken breast and boiled a few pounds of hamburger. Hoping it will provide a good meal here for a few days. I'm trying my best to eat DC style(not easy) especially since I'm at home now and don't have college dining halls at my service all day. You guys have any trade secrets or tips on how you keep the fridge stocked and rdy to go with tons of food... or do you just cook it fresh all the time(seems kind of time consuming)? Would love to hear different peoples methods... thanks

Cook in bulk definately! Put chicken and beef in glad containers. Can last about a week. Rice is easy to keep fresh this way and will stay fresh a while as well. Other than those I eat oats and packaged tuna most of the time. Plus, 'ts offseason so I eat out a lot. Steak houses and so forth!

James, Yes, now we are talking my kind of thread here.

Sunday is my day of cooking and preping for the week ahead.

I cook on the average 10-12 lbs steak, 10-15 lbs chicken, 6-8 lb turkey breast, 3-5 lbs hamburger and 8-10 cups brown rice per week.

After the steak and chicken cools a bit from the que, I put it in Ziplock bags with a papertowel between each piece to soak up fat and juice.

Turkey I put in a tupperware container with a papertowel on the bottom cause I hate the jellified fat.

Rice I cook with beef broth and Teriyaki sauce and place in tupperware.

I will make up to 20 sandwhiches from chicken and turkey for my meals at work with rice and I also take steak and nuke it at work.

Its nice to have a GF that works the stove while I do the que and rice cooker, we have it down to a science, if she didn't, she is out, and I get a new one...

I do the chicken breasts on a george-foreman grill with either some buck's seasoning or cajun seasoning.

Now that's what I'm talking about lol.

Thanks for the input, I'm going to the store today with my ma dukes... I think she's in for a suprise on what the bill is gonna be

Do you guys just use the microwave to heat everything up? The food doesn't become dry and undesirable? I like to flavor my beef with A-1, and I'll even eat my chicken with my A-1. Is that alright or should I find an alternative way of seasing my meats? thanks for the input i love talking about food.... speaking of, i just woke up and it's time to pig out.. peace

I have this pot and its called a Nesco, its not a slow crock or a convection oven, its a simple pot with lid on heating element and cooks shit fast, I can do 8 lb turkey breast in 90 minutes and it stays juicy, some for chicken in this thing nice and juicy.

I like to use Lemon Pepper, Tumric, Rosemary, Paparika and some Tiger Sauce on my chicken and turkey, I also use beef, chicken and vege broth in the Nesco for turkey, chicken and even pork, if I run out of canned broth I go with cubes very cheap and 2 go along way.

Ok here is a weird one for you, In-Humans chicken recipe:
10 chicken breast, Orange Marmelade Jelly, onion soup mix, and 1 or 2 bottles of Russion dressing, I use Wish Bone.
I place the breast in a glass pan I mix up onion mix with 1/2 cup water, dump in the dressing and place 1 tabelspoon of jelly on each piece of chicken, cover with foil, cook at 325 for 40-60 minutes.

Steaks and red meat I go with the que with just real simple meat tenderizer and garlic powder, onion salt and a little basil.

I also use rosemary and basil with my brown rice in the rice cooker with any flavor of broth.

Damn I am hungry, need to eat, see ya...

Oh I forgot, I buy those hamburger patties that are uncooked in the fresh meat section, they are always on sale the 10% fat ones, 4 per package, they are 1/3 lb each, I cook about 12 of those also on the grill and eat them with egg whites in the morning if I don't want a shake and bagel...

                              good stuff

                              I like the patties idea...

Not sure why I couldn't figure out what que meant... learning shitloads of new info on lifting and eating everyday has pushed out some of the more common knowledge from my brain..

Thanks bro.... man I love this place, it's the only place I can talk about serious shit and people will understand... if I tell anyone else how much I eat in one day they just don't get it. I just had two girlfriends of mine stop over and I was drinking a protein shake... they were like "ewwww what does that do anyways? Is it steroids?" I was just like ladies i'm not even gonna get into it.

                              Anyways, ROCK ON :rocker:
