  • WTF... holy horrendous migraine

Hey guys... For the past two weeks or so, after my first heavy set during every workout i'll get like a slight headache in the back of my head\upper neck area that kinda bothers me.. i usually just lift through it. Today I was doing slight incline on the smith, raped the log book yet again, but all the sudden my head burst into like the worst pain like a migraine or something. It's the same thing that's been happening for the past two weeks, but this time it was way more severe. I managed to get through shoulders and tri's, but it just hurt to bad I couldnt do back. Anybody else ever have this happen? It fuckin sucks, my weights are still going up(even today although I could barely see my head hurt so bad) and I don't wanna have to break because of this stupid thing. Any suggestions? I was planning on just going in tomorrow to do deads and lat pulldowns... then go thurs and sat and then resume a regular MWFM schedule... thanks for any input.

James, Do you have a lot stress in your life right now? are you on any ephedra or caffine drinks, how is your vitamin intake?, are you taking in any simple carbs pre workout?...

I once had that for a while, it was going for a week or longer, I took a week off and just chilled and it was gone after that.

              yea

yea it definatly sucks ass when it happens... hurt so bad today.

i'm not taking any ephedra... i usually just drink a glass of ice coffee before I work out.

i have been pretty stressed lately due to girl issues and finals...

i always have some simple carbs before work out... and as far as vitamins go, i don't really take any.

might just have to take it easy on it and hope it subsides.

James, For me I can not do simple carbs pre workout, I will get the spike going then the crash and I get an instant headache. I also cannot do caffine it does the same thing, I use protein shake with glut, and some complex carbs 60 minutes prior with 1000 mg Vita-C and 1000 iu of Vita-E and no more headaches...

Ice coffee can give me a headache without lifting! Check your breathing, don't hold your breathe. Make sure you are not pushing your head back superhard against bench or pads. Try to work the muscle your supposed to and not tightening or tensing everywhere including the kitchen sink. Good luck!!

I am having this problem too. My neck bothers me in the the morning at work. One side at a time has this tingling feeling. More annoying than painful. I just move my neck around and crack it. Today I had a little head ache at the gym after biceps...not too too bad. During the day I'll get some tingling sensations down my right arm. There is some nerver interuptions there. Either really tighten traps (they have been stress from deads and bent rows) or a slight buldge disk in my upper vertabrate. God forbid it's that. That's just what I need another surgery. Right now I'm icing it, going to hit chiro and get a massage this week. I've had this before and massage and chiro helped out. This time it's taking longer.

I also think because of the strength increase the more stress on the joints. I finally got to 300lbs for deadlifts after 2 years on not being able to bend over. So I'm trying to be aware of this issue and not make it worst. GerryT told me to see a neurologist to see what he says. I'll also talk to him about my damaged nerve in my right leg which is getting better BTW. Man I feel like a beat up Ford Pinto.

                      alright

thanks for the input guys, i know i'm doing the lifts correctly and i have pretty good breathing technique, so i think it's something else.

in-human i think i'm gonna try and cut out the coffee and simple carbs before the workout and see if that helps... i used to take an ECA before working out and it never seemed to affect me but maybe the caffeine does now. i'm also on the PH 1-AD... not sure if that would make a difference but this is my last week using it anyhow. thanks again for the input.

GorrillaBack, Man I feel like a beat up Ford Pinto.

Buddy do I understand this right now, I have been kicking its ass for the last 4 months non stop and I am shot right down to the ground right now.

I have that urge that I need to keep pushing since I am so damn close to 300, but my body is telling me rest man rest, of course DC told me that too.

So I am off for the next 4 days, hopefully noone will die...

James like I said maybe take a week off, with me that solved the problem.

                              James,

I would consider seeing a Chiropractor (D.C.) or an osteopath (D.O.), or perhaps even a chinese bodyworker (L.Ac. or various other credentials) who does bone setting.
