  • protein vs. cals

    is this program geared to as many cals as one can consume or more with 2xbodyweight in protein or is it geared more towards overall protein intake?

    there might be meals where i might consume 2 cans of tuna for example with no carbs & maybe a small protein shake with virgin olive oil inside. is that fine or are carbs more an important factor than is lead on here(seems like protein protein protein)

    I am by no means an expert, but since nobody else has replied yet, I will state my opinion.

    I think you definitely need some carbs when bulking. When I drop my carb intake too low I loose significant strength. I loose reps on all of my exercises.

    If you want to keep fat gain to a minimum, you should try to consume mostly complex carbs (e.g. oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat bread instead of white bread). Also utilize DC's carb cutoff where you consume almost no carbs (I think green, fibrous veggies like broccoli are allowed because they digest so slow) after a certain point in time of the afternnoon/evening.

    The one exception to all of this is your post workout shake which should contain a sugar like dextrose.

    Hopefully the more knowledgeable bros on this board will chime in to give you more and better advice.

      It totally depends on how carb sensitive you are. Some people that I know can consume almost no carbs and perform at what seems to be 100% . However, others that drop below 200g a day feel like a dually just hit them. Moreover, some guys can consume too many carbs and feel just like the ones that consumed too little. I believe the younger you are, the more carbs you need *for the MOST part*. I am on a cruise right now,b ut start blasting again tomorrow. I am taking in few carbs, not on purpose though. I feel good, but I am going to definitely increase carbs tomorrow to get in as many calories as I can. However, definitely listen to Dante's advice. It IS about protein, protein, protein! Pound down all the protein that you can, then take in some complex carbs to satiate your hunger and get you full. You probably still won't be taking in very many carbs. Yesterday I only took in around 75g, tomorrow even when I am blasting I will probably only end up at around 200 and something for the day, not including pre and post workout.

            no thats fine US--no problem on anything you find online at all--Ive always been pretty vague with the outline of it when I posted--I just cant go into great detail on it---everyone and their brother and even my wife is telling me to write the book and clear all this up (and im starting to lean toward doing that)

              I don't think you need to write a book, man. Besides, where the hell are ya gonna find the time? Your ideas are very wide spread already, I don't think you need any media attention and everyone and their best friend bastardizing and butchering the program and calling it DC training. Just my thoughts...not like they mean a whole lot
