  • how long can one continue to stay dry?

hi peeps..the last time i dropped water for a show..i started feeling feverish until about 24hours without water(just small sips)..i guess this is a sign to notice when one is dry? ok..i did not use any pharm diuretics, just dandelion,b6 and vitamin c..i am going to do a shitload for my next show, and currently i'm pretty depleted already..i was wondering how long can a person stay dry(from the moment of restricting water), if he does not drink any from that moment on(being that the body will eventually catch up to ya)? and should i start my shitload only at the moment the feverish feeling comes..? lets just say the feverish feeling comes after 24hours of water restriction..so i should wait 24 hours after that to start loading?

You are "dry" when the mirror says that you're dry. You can stay this way, assuming that you don't drink water / fluids and/or eat food containing a lot of water for quite a while, much longer that you would need for a show.

Generally it is said that you can live for 3 days w/o water. My guess is that it is longer.

You can stay "dry" pretty much all the time if you minimize sodium intake, estrogen, stress and consume a good deal of water (about 2 gal / day will do it).

I would not use this feverish feeling as a way to guage when you are dry. The judges will not take your temperature or ask you how you feel when they are judging your conditioning on stage ( ).

Maybe if you outlined what you plan to do, we could help. (Your question is a bit nebulous...)

hi randy thanks for your advices..my show is on a sunday...and from my previous show...i was more dry after restricting water for 24 hours..and previously i did a depletion..but did not fill out well..only on the fourth day after loading..it hit me..but i was holding some water..my plan for this coming show was not to do any depletion training..as i'm pretty much deplete by now..i was just planning to drop the water, and just eat up..maybe starting sunday morning or saturday night..i'm planning to shitload..and if i were to shitload on saturday night(anything goes here)...i would assume i should use food that have lesser sodium to shitload on sunday(eg,rice cakes with natty peanut butter)..please tell me if i'm on the right track

          Jerry,

Do a test run and see how it works. There is a lot of info. on the specifics of the shitload all over the net. (Various threads on others' experiences, as well as an early one of Skip's go-round w/ the shitload.)

Skip is our resident guru on the topic here. It sounds like it would be a great idea for you to contact him regarding this.

i actually consulted him before..and he gave me lotsa good advices but regarding the duration of staying dry(as in due to the large amount of sodium)..is there going to be a time where most subQ water is drawn into the muscle cells already due to the sodium injested..and the extra sodium injested the next morning is gonna cause a spillover or something like that?

Yes, the rate at which the equilibrium in sodium across the vasculature into the interstitial spaces (spilling) will also depend upon the sodium coming in.

The solution I *think* you're looking for is to:
              1. Get dry, sodium and glycogen depleted
              2. Shitload to get full and vascular
              and (this is the answer
              3. STOP shitloading w/ sodium rich foods (and even reduce carb intake, switching to lower glycemic index, higher protein foods) when you've filled up adequately. Also, drink no water once the effect of the shitload has been obtained.

The problem with doing this on your own is that you start to look so damn good that you think you can eek out just a little more fullness and vascularity by continuing the shitload when you would be better discontinuing it and maintaining your condition by continuing to restrict water, and restricting sodium and carbs...

yes..randy..that's what i've been looking for ...i'm not quite sure if i tend towards having belly distention..as i always wake up in the morning with an extremely flat midsection..and as i progress through the day..it gets thicker..i suppose that's because of all the food i ate?
