Well its back to the drawing board-I learned a ton-I now know what"spilling over" looks like-I also realize that moving to a state level show and expecting a good result was perhaps naive-Hell-top 3 in the class 1 has competed nationally and the other 2 were 7 weeks out from Masters Nationals!!-very impressed with the quality of competitors-this ain't no hobby-this is serious shit!!-I placed 5th (last in my class)-was a head taller than the next tallest guy so the pre-judge pics were almost comical-looks like kareem with the rest of the Lakers!!I did see some bros from my last show who could'nt believe the size I added(obviously 20 #'s short of where I need to be!! )-but some consolation none the less.Man this is a freakin' gruelling sport-10 months of training for 5th-not sure yet if I'm fired up to compete again or is 40 too old to really make a go of it???Any body got a way to loose about 6 inches in height??-Wow how 240 looks at 5'10" as opposed to 6'4"-genetics suck-

Hey I hear ya Bro. Im 42 y/o and it aint getting easier.
I guess the perspective one needs to take is that this thing we call BB'ing is a journey NOT a destination.
As long as your moving in the right direction and learning from mistakes your ahead of the game. And the only game is really with yourself. There's ALWAYS going to be someone bigger and better.
If youve made improvements be proud of your self for that and being able to stick out the dredgery of this lifestyle.SweatMachine

I am with Sweaty here, bro.
Everyone likes to win and no one likes to lose. However, I get more satisfaction out of the day to day prep than being on stage, anyway.
I am sure that when things settle down for you, you will be more than ready to get back in the gym and make a go of it again. It is in your blood, bro. : )
Plus, 5th at a state show is nothing to scoff at whether you were last in your class or not.

Thanks guys-kinda hard to swallow and I've never been so outclassed at anything in my life-damn near embarassed to be there-and I know I let it affect my performance-difficult to process all the emotions after being so single minded for so long-I have a whole new found level of respect for Skip,Dpsqt.Homonuculus(Randy) and Silverback.Ya know you see the pics and yea they look great but until some guy who weighs 10# more than you and looks you right in the sternum is posing right next to you-only then do you really gain an appreciation for what these National level competitors look like-truly amazing!!Livin' for the pump

RC..take this time to relax and take a breather from ur 10 months of self-torture...I hate to lose, and i especially hate to lose by a SINGLE point (that sucks)...but being 40 is no excuse to give up, not that you're planning to. Stay strong, and you'll have another chance to top ur best.. Ur a cool guy here, and i we want u to do good.. Just like u guys here have shown me support, u can expect it from me...like i said, stay strong.

Agree with the others. Be proud of yourself and continue on.
Would you rather win a shitty show where you beat a bunch of nobodies or take 5th in a kick ass show and know you got beat by guys who were simply better than you?
I know damned sure which one I would take. Now, it might take a few days to come to this but I would get there. LOL

I dont believe ib the "big fish-little pond" mentality. When you raise your bar your raise your performance. There were only 5 places representing an entire state.
How many BB'ers do you think that calculates out too?
AND, YES I FORTY- F'ING - TWO YEARS OLD. IT SUCKS BUT WHAT THE HELL CAN I DO ABOUT IT.
I have a hot 30 y/o wife, thats what counts!SweatMachine

Props to us old guys with hot wifes!:boobies:
And RC, regardless of placing you're to be commended for competing, use it as a guage and stepping stone to where you want to be.
