Alright you contest gurus try this one on for size! I won my wt class this weekend and finished a very close 2nd. In talking to the judges, they said I came in smooth and not near as tight for night show as morning show. This is where the problem is one of the guys that is a judge saw me thurs and on sat (day of show) he said i was tighter and more clean on thurs and fri morn than show day, although I was filled out big time for the day of show. This is what happened you guys give me your 2 cent and see if I agree w/what you say. I didnt have to worry bout a wt. class so I started craming carbs in my wed (175g carb) thurs was 250g carbs I saw the spill over coming on fri so I cut the carbs and the water...water was as follows 4 mon, 3 tues 2 wed, 1 thurs and less than half gallon fri (saw the spill so I tried to cut back I usually do 1/2 gallon on fri) oh yeah ran aldactone and caffeine all the way through as diuretics well and the asparagus. On sat (show day) I had my normal pancakes in the am w/2 oz of water just to get pills down didnt drink anything till my pre stage carbo force got a pump like no other and was focking huge on stage compared to every other wt class!!! SAw the spill as I was pumping b/c I wasnt as tight my skin just didnt lay against my muscles like it did on thurs....so w/lunch (post stage) 6 oz steak 6 oz reds and salad I had 8 oz of water w/a diazide....didnt do my pre night show carbo force b/c I couldnt take any more liquids in I was focked!!! Came in huge but all my hard earned tightness was gone!!! My question is what would you guys do diff...I know what I plan on doing next time......

I don't like that type of water schedule and I don't believe in "spillover". I believe in not getting your wate right and controlling it. So, I will have to stay out of this one, bro.
I saw a pic or two of you a couple days before your show and you did look very good. I was impressed.

Well, there isn't much to interject, here. I mean, you have the answer in that you said that you were dry and flat last year but full and a bit soft this year. Yes, there is a middle ground and that is what you need to find.
As for the water volume, I am not surprised that you had water issues with starting a decline in your water intake so early. This happens pretty frequently, actually. The only thing I would openly recommend is that you should probably run your water high all week with a sudden cut of the water on Friday. When? Hard telling. I haven't worked with you before. I have little tricks and things to do that can give you a good idea of when to cut your water but things like that are left to my clients, bro.
I will say this, though: Even for those that believe in "spilling over", 500g of carbs will not cause this to happen. You didn't have control of your water - period. It has little, if anything, to do with carbs and especially such a small amount of carbs.
Just my opinion, bro.

I don't think that pharm diuretics are necessary (unless you count caffeine).
Basically, as Skip said, with the week long protocol of diuretics and dropping your water as you went along, by Friday, your body's water homeostatic mechanisms were kicking in in a major way to retain water. You can only be dry so long before you start to hold water.
I also agree that that small amount of carbs was not the culprit. It probably really was not enough to fill you out as well as you could have been, to be honest, if you were very depleted at the start. If you do your carbs early (as you did) then the idea that I think makes most sense (this is how I do it mostly) is basically to eat enought carb so you DO spill on Thurs. Then you use Friday (and a late water cutoff on Friday) to drop the water.

Thanks guys....I did sweat a hell of a lot more than I usually do on stage....I just dont understand why the water didnt drop like it normaly does...the past few times i have done same exact water plan and came in paper thin and dry as a bone....any ideas what may have changed it this time...Short mod @ www.beyondmass.com
