How many weeks out from a show do you actually start your prep? Does it vary on what condition you're in, I would imigine so. But on average, what would you say?

I prefer to get my clients at 20 weeks but will go as low as 16 weeks. Anything lower, forget it.

I'm starting at 14 out, but will probably be ready a few weeks out. I can lose 2 lb of fat / week, so I should be ready to go.

I started 22 weeks out this year.

I am at 7 weeks out now and just about where I was when I competing last season.
Started my diet slow just cleaning things up for the first 4 weeks then started a little cardio. The slow and study approach has worked great so for.
Started at 225, 14 weeks later I am at 200lbs. I have retain all my strengh and 98% of my muscle.
4 days ago I dropped mycals down another 400 Monday-Thurs. Will ramp back to 2600 for a few days and then down to 2000 next week Mon-Thrus.
It is great having the extra time to experiment with cals and water.

              Good luck to you all

I am needing to diet down for a show on Aug 28, currently sitting about 205 and I am going for middleweight for my 1st show. Should I start dieting down at the first of may or sooner?

Also I am in pretty good condition right now, can still ab muscle a little when relaxed.

The first of May would leave you with plenty of time provided you know what you are doing. You can always start sooner and just take it slower, making the prep much easier on you mentally and physically. It depends on how you feel about where you are right now.

If you like, post some pics or email a couple to me and I will give you a more accurate opinion.
