  • Had no clue that PL meets are so fun;

    did my first meet today, AAPF meet in Rock Hill, SC.

    Men's Open 181lb RAW - 1st place

    Will compete in the 165's in December and set a state record for RAW squat (current record: 330), DL (405) and total (975).

    Here's my third deadlift attempt. Not a PR, but it sure felt heavy;

    Overtraining should be one of the lowest concerns. You should focus on optimal training.

      I did my first meet last month, and holy hell it was a freaking blast. I didn't want it to end at all! Of course, ending up first never hurts either does it? I can't wait to get back in to a meet, hopefully in December for me. The atmosphere, everyone is awesome.
      …Time is so precious….and you need to ask yourself, what are you going to do today but more importantly, you need to ask yourself – how are you going to do it?

        Did you hit any PRs that meet? Which organization? What are your next goals? Good luck Mark!

        And thanks, LHart.

          It's the Metroflex Strength Association, a small fed among Metroflex gyms in the area, since I train at Metroflex Arlington (the original) I figured I'd go to the meet and lift. I did end up benching my current 1RM which sadly is 280, and ended up deadlifting 550 for an easy 15lb PR. The judge said I could have easily pulled 600 that day. 550 was also a 45lb record for the SHW novice class, the open record is 805, but come December it'll be over 1000 when Magusson comes back in town and lifts at the meet. My next goals are a 300lb bench and a 600lb deadlift by December. What about yours?

            My first meet was preceded by a road trip with Sammich and we met DCBeliever at the venue.

            Easy way to sum it up is just to imagine if the movies "Pumping Iron", "Dodgeball", "Blazing Saddles" and "The Ten Commandments" were combined. :sammich:
