I will do a full year journal this Year, to keep me on a straighter path. Lost 30 pounds this past year. Then gained them all back this past offseason. Only wanted to gain 15 pounds. In 2014 I only gained 13 pounds, really trying to figure out where the other 15 - 20 pounds came from. I think it is because I can't train like I want to, until my shoulder heals from the surgery I had Last Jan, I got frustrated and depressed and ate too much.
2014 I started my plan of dieting Feb. through July. and Not dieting Aug through Jan. 6 Mos. on, 6 Mos off. I lost 33 pounds in 2014 and gained 13 pounds.
But I will start earlier this year, gaining so much weight and will try to go until Sept..

I feel like I will need to keep doing some cardio next offseason, to keep from gaining so much weight with my Age. I didn't do any this offseason. I don't compete, I just use offseason and in season to describe dieting and not dieting.

I hurt my back doing Pendley rows(went too heavy) 2 weeks ago, so I haven't been in the gym for the last 2 weeks. I am doing a DC split with straight sets until I can get my pressing back where I want it. I am not doing DC. I just like the frequency, better than a push, pull routine, and it seems to work for me. I started with FT this offseason, but didn't think I was giving the intensity it needed because of my shoulder. So I switched to this.
    Stats
    42 Years old 6'1
    Weight Today 262 pounds.
    Training about 10 years now.

Rather than do off season an in season why dont you string together 2-3 in-seasons and do a bodybuilding show?

I diet for 24 weeks already, don't know how doing a show would make a difference. What would make a difference would be hiring a coach. I was going to and still may this time around.
I have never really been interested in competing, in a bodybuilding show. I have wanted to do a Powerlifitng competition, but my shoulder has really stopped that. But when it gets healthy I will compete in one. When I started training it was just to get stronger. Then I just wanted to improve my 1RM.

then do a powerlifting meet, but your on the right track of getting leaner, you can do both get strong and get leaner with the right approach. any idea what weight class you want to compete in? (220's or 242's?)

I would like to compete lower than that, like the 190's. I would like to walk around 215 then cut to the 190's right before the meet. So when I lift, I will be back to 215. I was all ready to compete in 2013, but then my dad had a stroke, and it put it on hold, then I developed a shoulder problem. So I am working back to competing, but benching only 155 pounds right now, wouldn't be good for a Meet. . I actually thought this surgery wouldn't take as long to recover from.
