  • Uncxrt's Powerlifting Log

So I'm doing this log in an attempt to keep myself focused, and have a better training cycle than the last one.

This past weekend, I completed at the Boss of Bosses 2 event in Mountain View, Ca. I didn't do anywhere near as well as I had hoped. Ended up with a 1829 total @ 242 in just sleeves -
    https://youtu.be/KSH4CIZhgto

This was by far the lightest I had ever competed, and with the help of impreziv, I cut about 22lbs the last 36hours or so before weigh ins, and was able to gain all that weight back before stepping on the platform. In the past I typically weighed in around the 280-285 range, so that was quite a difference.

This was also my first meet in over a year, at which I tore my adductor, lower abdomen, and in turn developing a giant hematoma where the ab tore. It has been a constant battle since then, with the amount of scar tissue that developed in that area, and also because it will never go away. My body is constantly adjusting and readjusting to the scar tissue, since it has shifted several times since the initial injury. It's a little bigger than a golf ball and is rock hard, just to give you an idea lol.

My next meet will either be the LA Fit expo (if invited) at the end of January, otherwise it'll be a local meet at the end of February.

My biggest focus this cycle will be squats, as it's my weakest lift by far. Right before the injury I finally had it to a respectable number, so I want to get it to at least there.

First real day back in the gym since the meet.

    Deadlift day

    SSB squats
    152x10
    202x10
    242x8
    292x8
    332x8
    332x8
    332x8

    Block pulls
    315x3
    405x3
    495x3
    495x3
    495x3

    Bottom up zerchers
    225x1
    315x1
    405x1
    455x1 - 3 sets

    BB rows
    225x10
    275x10 - 3 sets

    1 legged SDL w/db's
    25'sx8 3 sets

Trying to increase the volume, as coming off meet prep my muscular endurance is horseshit. Wore oly shoes on the SSB's to try and hit my quads a bit more. My pull off the floor has been slow, so trying to get my quads back up to par to help with that. Bodyweight was at 268 this morning.

Nice to see the training log man. Now you are far too big and tall to be messing with a cut to 242. You need to be thinking the other direction and going 308. This will do wonders for your squat and total. Be big, lift big!

Anytime I get to 300lbs or around there, everyday life becomes difficult. Breathing heavy and sweating constantly are no fun lol. My job is pretty active, so it becomes a pain at that weight. Also, since I'm naturally skinny, I have to eat way more junk than I like to - did I actually just say that? Lol. I'm for sure stronger at that weight, but for practicality reasons, it just doesn't work out for me.

So I found out that I will be doing the LA Fit expo on January 24. Exactly 20 weeks from today. Pretty excited, since I wanted to do this meet last year, but couldn't since I was hurt. Now I just have to stock up on Gummi bears and oreos to pay impreziv in hopes to convince him to handle me

Since the oly shoes felt so good on Friday doing ssb, I thought I'd give me a try on all my squatting from now on. Felt pretty good with em, but wasn't really going super heavy. Itll be interesting to see how they feel when stuff starts moving up in weight.

              Upper accessory day today

Started off with my mobility work and band work for lower body - specificly my adductor/abductor area.

              SOHP
              bar x15
              95x10
              135x10
              185x8
              205x8
              225x5
              245x3
              245x3
              185x10

              Front db raises
              35x12
              3 sets

              Side db lateral raises
              35x10
              3 sets

              Face pulls
              65x15
              3 sets

              Straight arm pressdowns
              70x12
              3 sets

              1 arm tri cable pressdowns
              35x12
              3 sets

              Pec Dec
              70x15
              3 sets

              Decline weighted situps
              25x12
              3 sets

Workout was bleh. I tweaked my pec at the meet, so I'm limited on what upper body stuff I normally do. After SOHP I usually will do weighted dips, but that's not happening. I also like to do some sort of close grip work for the tri's as well, bit no bueno there either. Also didn't help that my elbow tendinitis was hollering pretty bad today, so even holding the db's was awful.
